The episode was only from the innies perspective so we will have to wait until next week for some validation of that most excellently narrated presentation about the Macrodat Uprising. I don’t believe their outies were so well received by the public or that 5 months have passed. Seems like it wouldn’t take that long to fix Mr. Milkshakes welcome screen.
I don’t know what to think about Miss Huang. Why is she a child?
Dylan’s outie has been to several waffle parties since we saw him last. I think my favorite line of this episode was him demanding an apology from Milchick for cutting his best belt.
I paused the show at the very end when Mark is binning some macrodata and the screen says Cold Harbor 68% with the feed of Ms Casey.
My bold prediction is Helly R is no longer severed and that’s Helena Eagan on the severed floor.

100%
It’s why they took all the cameras and mics out. She’s their person on the inside.

This season reminds me of Office Space

I can’t wait to see how their outies react to her. Based on the behind the scenes clip after the episode, it looks like we see a lot more of the outside world this season.

I’m thinking Miss Huang is Mark and Casey’s daughter.

I was thinking clone of Ms Casey, but I like this better. If I’m not mistaken, Mark mentioned in season 1 that they tried to have kids. I’m sure Lumon is involved in fertility clinics.

Rewatched season finale of S1 last night to refresh my memory. Definitely need to rewatch the whole season because I was forgetting a lot. Still one of the best season finale's in recent memory. I knew what was going to happen and my heart was still beating a little fast there at the end. Can't wait to start S2 tonight.

Got a solid laugh that they got Keanu Reeves to voice the Lumon building in the animated segment

quote:Same. I watched it last night but was tired, so I’ll probably rewatch today.
My bold prediction is Helly R is no longer severed and that’s Helena Eagan on the severed floor.
But there was one scene where they panned to each characters reaction, and Helly R was almost like a side smirk that she knew exactly what was going on.

Here is a screenshot from the end

I thought this was pretty obvious. In fact Mark thinks it to, you could tell when they were playing the game in the break room. I don’t even think they were trying to hide it. I think this season is about Mark trying to figure out why she is in there and to help her get out too. That’s why he stayed.

quote:Yep. I just rewatched and during ball game when Mark S thinks of something to say about himself, they quickly flash the picture of him and Ms Casey for the first time and then he and Ms Huong stare at each other for 10-15 seconds before doing the four new friends, etc. The look on Mark’s face while he’s looking at her seems to suggest he sees part of his wife sitting across from him.

So does the only truly HAPPY ending involve cloned bodies for the innies and them being able to live like their outside counterparts?

Not for the ultimate ending, but I want to see the alternate universe where innie Irv can’t be convinced and leaves, basically ending his existence and outie Irv gains his consciousness and thinks, shite man, now I need to get a job.

That was my initial thought as well. Although I waffled on that theory a little. Her story of telling a gardener was weird and like it came from someone who only had a few minutes to come up with a believable lie. But then they showed her struggling, only slightly, to turn on her computer and that seemed like an intentional choice. They had to come up with a way to find out what Mark learned on the outside.
As smart as the show is it almost seems like a red herring. It was almost too obvious. So maybe she is just ashamed of being an Eagan.
I'm also not sure how long she could keep up that lie. She doesn't have any of her innies memories and it's unclear if she would even be able to do the job effectively.
I'm open to either possibility. Helena is acting as a mole or Helly is just ashamed of being an Eagan and of learning about her role in motivating her father to pursue Severance.

quote:I think this is the other explanation as well. I could easily see her making up the story to avoid having to tell her friends who her outie really is.
So maybe she is just ashamed of being an Eagan.
I think a lot of us are thinking the same ideas after the first episode.

Although, I will say that if she’s unsevered, she surely would know what Luman is expecting from MDR and I don’t think she’d get exposed by failing to “feel the numbers”.

We just have to work through our theories until Ricken shows up and lights the way.
I laughed the hardest when Dylan said "You know Ricken Hale?".
I don't like to binge shows like this because I like having a week to read theories and think about things. I feel like when I binge shows I miss all sorts of subtle clues and never get the full experience.

Just watched the episode.
I’m not sure what the heck is going on, but I’m positive the outies are not ‘heroes’ in the real world and that was all bullshite. Also not sure 5 months have really gone by.
Put me down in the camp that Helly is really Helena.
I think Ms. Huang is not Mark and Gemma’s daughter, but Ms. Casey/Gemma herself. I think when Gemma died, she was used to see if you could bring someone back to life. She may be ‘grown’ from a zygote to a fetus to a child manager before reaching the Ms. Casey finished form.
Alas, who the hell knows with this show.
