Yeah, it was the most epic of epic frickups. I totally believe they could have built a hotel with heavy theming, with cool space restaurants and bars and gift shops, an awesome slide at the pool that replicates Luke's run on the Death Star, a cool speakeasy equivalent to Trader's Sam's at the poly, maybe a rooftop bar where you can see fireworks shows and whatnot, SW crafts in the family room, and then ALSO offer stuff for the super nerds. Immersive stuff that is OPTIONAL, early early access to Galaxy's Edge like when it opened (they let you in at 6:30am when it opened if you stayed at a deluxe resort).
The Star Trek bar at the Hilton in Vegas back in the day was awesome. Served beer by a Ferengi, harrassed by a Clingon, etc etc. It didn't require me to dress like a nerd, but I got to have fun and appreciate the theming and effort.
They could have made it DVC and sold thousands of memberships or just partnered with a hotel chain and still had rooms that went for $2k per night, but people that don't want to LARP could just enjoy.

It's still amazing to me that they put all that money into that hotel, and when they couldn't sell it at an outrageous price point they just scrapped the whole thing.

Seriously, it doesnt make sense. I think they did have a lot of issues with the quests and stuff like that but they couldn't just turn it into a normal resort?

There is a really awesome Star Wars-themed bar on whichever cruise ship we went on last year. They clearly know how to do things like this.

I was pretty stoked about that resort, and was willing to go even though I knew it was going to be based on the worst Star Wars trilogy, but the price just wasn't worth it. I don't know how anyone justified paying that much.

I think converting it wasn’t cost effective for so few rooms. Easier to bulldoze and build. For now, it’s offices.

Must have been the Wish. We went back to that bar a few times. It was pretty cool.

Gosling and Levy talk about the film

Ryan, please don't bring your puffy Barbie/Fall guy cheeks to this. It's embarrassing.

Levy said the story is set a few years after the events of Episode 9 (The Rise of Skywalker). The movie will be a standalone and feature new characters.
Been saying this for years. Needs to be a whole new story with whole new characters, but in the same universe.
The sequels just bent way over backwards trying to tie into the original trilogy.

Give me Top Gun but with X-Wings. It’s not hard Disney.
i’ve been saying this
After the OT we completely lost track of everything non-jedi
Starship fights were a much bigger part of the OT. ANH has more xwing-tie fighter fights than lightsaber fights.

The Hound looks good as Baylan. RIP Ray.

I know some folks who went on a heavily discounted visit and they had a fantastic time. I know production costs are high but surely you can scale back and at least recoup some of the losses?

Seems like a simple thing to do. Guess we're overthinking it.
I must admit, I didn't catch the discounted stays.

Wait. Not everyone is associated with a slave family turned-moisture farmers on a backwater planet in the Outer Rim?
Is that allowed?
That moment you learn what Luke's family did for a living from a message board... only after watching A New Hope 30 times.

Why did you think Owen Lars needed a droid that could understand the binary language of moisture vaporators?

Yeah I get all that. Just never thought long enough on the matter to put it all together on exactly what type of farmers they were.

Taking that concept a step farther, I would love to see a well-crafted X-Wing versus TIE fighter film, that's spends equal time among super skilled tie interceptor squadron pilots as well as the rebel jockeys.
One of the biggest tragedies of losing the expanded universe is that fleshed out characters like Tycho Celchu who was an Alderaanian TIE Interceptor squadron leader who defected to the rebellion after the Battle of Yavin IV if I remember correctly gets tossed on the trash heap of Star wars history, and relegated simply as a legend.
