Disney‘s feature take on its classic 1937 toon Snow White finally is hitting theaters this weekend after weathering a tormenting, blown-out-of-proportion tabloid controversy. Domestic is looking to land between a $45M-$50M opening with another $55M abroad.

The reported $270M feature production

Quorum has been pretty solid with their predictions lately. Maybe it won't bomb like so many suspect

quote:

Disney‘s long-awaited live-action reboot of its 1937 animated classic Snow White doesn’t open until March 21, however, box office forecasts are out on the Rachel Zegler-Gal Gadot starring movie.

Quorum reports a 3-day start for the Marc Webb directed movie of $63M-$70M while other sources believe $65M at this point in time is fair. As a comp, the 2014 Angelina Jolie Sleeping Beauty live-action spinoff opened to $69.4M back in early summer 2014. At that level, it would rep the highest domestic opening for the Golden Globe winning Zegler whose Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes ranks as the actress best opening at the B.O. with $44.6M.

Awareness is solid among women over and under 35. In regards to those who are willing to pay to see the movie in a theater, women under 35 are first, followed by women over 35, and then men under 35 per Quorum.

Despite Disney and Rachel Zegler's best efforts, Snow White is the original Disney film that put them on the map and arguably the most well known fairy tale of all time. It will sell tickets.

What well never know is what if Disney had hired an actual German actress that looked the part and was a sweet, charming girl, it had never stuck a toe in the identity politics box, and promised a faithful adaptation. That movie would have obliterated the box office

With a budget around $300 million, that ain't good numbers. It's going to require some serious longevity. Disney can aggrandize all they want to, but an opening below $100 million will be a disappointment.

Disney has revealed that the cost of making its live action remake of Snow White had ballooned to $269.4 million (£217.7 million) by the end of 2023 putting the movie on course to blow its budget more than a year before it is released.

Forbes

Even if that budget hasn't gone up by a single cent since 2023, when you factor in the marketing they are doing for it now, it's going to be north of $300 million when all is said and done.

My apologies then. I had no Idea Disney had released that info. I thought they'd try and hide the budget.

Even with Zegler it should crush. She's her own worst enemy

I assume this movie will nosedive after the first week or two. There will be people who are going to go see it and always were. So it may even start semi strong. But I have a feeling word of mouth will be pretty bad for it. And once you get past those loyal fans who were seeing it anyway, it will fall off a cliff.

Even if does sort of well, it will be a fraction of what it could/should have done at the BO. And no matter how badly it does, Disney will spin it as a success.

She is talented as far as singing...but it just seems like shes that 5 star who shows incredible ability but just never puts up good numbers(and has a bad attitude)

A huge portion of general audiences likely have no idea about all the noise behind the film. a lot of people don't follow that sort of stuff.

How do they predict this stuff?

I’ve got four women in my house and none have any interest in seeing this garbage.

Some people are going to hate watch it, but I don't think this movie completely bombs because it's Snow White. It will not print money like it should have, but it won't bomb.

Agree, it's not like little mermaid where the politics were from & center and unavoidable.

With snow right, really have to be in tune with conservative (or pro-israel) politics to know about the drama here.

Fair point. It doesn't look like Disney is interested in heavily marketing this one. It comes out next month and there's been one full length trailer. I wonder if they're spending more overseas. The international market will make or break this film.
