Inspired by the Glory thread when someone asked if The Outlaw Josey Wales was considered a "western" I was inclined to see if that was on etflix. It was not, but the first recommendation was for Lonesome Dove. I've heard a lot of good things, but I also know that there are a couple of different versions of the Lonesome Dove out there- like a 3 hour movie version and an unedited version. So my question is- is the Netflix version the real deal?

Also feel free to use this thread for reminiscing purposes.

if it's the mini-series that's 4 installments of 2 hrs or so that's the right one

Only one that equals it IMHO is Band of Brothers. They are 1 and 1A for me. Great roles by Duvall, Jones and Angelica Houston and several supporting characters.

Band of Brothers, imo, but that's the only one.

I have said many times that I believe Robert Duvall as Gus McCrae is the best written character and the best portrayal of a role in movie/tv history. Such a great character and Duvall played it better than anyone on earth could have. His timing, mannerisms, and one liners are unbelievable.

WTH? I know opinions about movies are said to be subjective but you are objectively wrong here.
