The Cannonball run 1 and 2....and "the Cannonball!"

I gew up in the 80s, so I obviously enjoyed Cannonball 1 and 2 as a young boy(what young boy in the early 80s didn't?)I loved Burt, Dom, Sammy, and the rest of the cast, but today I flipped on what I thought was the cannonball run...but it was not. This movie was "Cannonball!" starring David Carradine. David played the lead role of a person nicknamed Cannonball. There was a coast to coast race, some humor, money to be won, and other similarities. This movie was actually made before the two cannonball run movies. Is there any connection? I cannot find any.

These were all patterned after the real Cannonball Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash that ran fro a New York warehouse to the L.A. coast. Very hush hush. Nobody got killed. Just some fast assed non-stop driving.

Dino and Sammy were classic in Cannonball.
Terry Bradshaw and Mel Tillis were funny too.

I think your thinking of this movie with David Carradine and a young Sylvester Stallone. It was a cross country race and they could earn extra bonus points for running people over (old people were like 50 points and hot young nurses were like 100points)

I am not "thinking of" this; I am talking about it. If you look at my post, you'll see that I have seen the cannonball runs and the cannonball. I asked if the two franchises had any connection because I did not see any.

You're thinking of "Death Race."
There is another movie with David Carradine called "Cannonball."

He mixed the two. He had the stars right, but he confused the plot with Death Race...
