I will say that Wick movies are INCREDIBLE at showcasing the "gun skills" that Wick has/uses whereas the Equalizer leaves it to your imagination.

While the Denzel movie was good with the exception of that ridiculous Home Depot “shoot out”, I didn’t like it being called The Equalizer. It had nothing to do with it until the end. It’s like they just shoehorned an action movie into a known title just to get some marketing and nostalgia points...oh wait.
Having said that, I’m going with Denzel. He’d already be three steps ahead of Wick, who seems to rely a lot on his own bad assery to much.

In The Matrix, that's obviously getting out of the computer world; in John Wick, it's getting out of the criminal world.”

This would kind of explain why the underground world in the Wick movies is able to act almost in a public way that they could never get away with in real life.
