PLOT: A spin-off of The Big Lebowski centered on the notable bowler, Jesus Quintana. The Jesus rolls on. Hours after being released from prison, Jesus Quintana (John Turturro) pairs up with fellow misfits Petey (Bobby Cannavale) and Marie (Audrey Tautou), and embark on a freewheeling joyride of petty crime and romance.

CAST: John Turturro, Susan Sarandon, Jon Hamm, Audrey Tautou, Michael Badalucco, Sônia Braga, Bobby Cannavale

In theaters and on demand March 6th!

This doesn't reveal much and it sounds like straight to video garbage but I'll stick check it out.

I'm surprised they even signed off on it, but I guess everyone has to put money on their table somehow.

John Turturro wrote and directed this. Its been in the works for years. Seems like a passion project for him.

Leasing out Fargo to Noah Hawley and FX worked well for them.

How are they gonna sell this movie? Jesus was a frickin' pedophile. Who's gonna see a movie about a bowling pedophile?

Did they think this shite through?

I can't wait to to see how they reconcile that shite.

Being a Lebowski spinoff is enough to sell this movie. I don't think him being a pedophile will be a major plot point. Its set after he gets out of jail so maybe he tries to reform. I doubt it will be about him trying to go around and diddle kids though.

I guess they are going to have to say that Walter didn't know what the hell he was talking about when he said Jesus was a pedo b/c it's going to be hard to sell a flick with one as the main character.

Well no, it's not gonna be about that but you can't tell jesus's story without at least an obligatory mention of him diddling kids.

Even in lebowski, jesus wasn't jesus without that part of it.

I’d rather watch 90 minutes of Walter telling Donny to shut the frick up.

I think it turning out that Walter was completely uninformed and full of shite fits quite nicely in the Lebowski universe

They never explicitly established that he was a pedophile. WALTER stated he was a pederast, but Walter is also, basically, always wrong about everything.

That's not the Jeff Bridges movie spin off/sequel I want. Does anyone know if the Starman sequel, that Bridges wants to do, is getting made?
quote:

As Bridges has said before, he thinks a “Starman” sequel could be pretty straightforward since the sci-fi romance, like “The Big Lebowski,” ends with his character about to become a dad.

“It’s all set up, very much like ‘Lebowski,’ like the Little Dude. The Dude in the oven,” he said. “In ‘Starman,’ Karen Allen, she’s got a bun in the oven as well.”

We mentioned to Bridges that we had an interview coming up with Carpenter, the director of “Starman,” about the sequel to Carpenter’s horror classic “Halloween.” Anything he wanted us to pass along?

“Just say that Karen Allen and I have been jammin’ on different ideas,” Bridges said.

He added that he was “a little disappointed” to learn that another “Starman” project has been announced. He said the people behind the new film, from “Stranger Things” veteran Shawn Levy, apparently have not reached out to him.

“I was a little disappointed to hear that they’re making a sequel to it already, I think it’s underway… or they’re redoing it or something. … I don’t think we’ve been contacted. I don’t now if John has, but I’d be curious.”

We contacted Levy, who said in a statement: “‘Starman’ is very much in the script development stage still and the timeline for if and when it will go into production is still unclear. As a huge fan of the original film and these incredible actors, I would absolutely do everything in my power to involve them in some meaningful way, should I get the privilege of telling a new version of this amazing and poignant story.
