yeah this is true. It will be very hard to make Ellie in the show as sympathetic of a figure as the games at this point. I think that is something that got lost from all the moments of exploring together in the first game.

I enjoyed the episode and thought it did well portraying how Ellie was acting towards Joel. I also like that they’re splitting the season up because of all the material. That’s one thing I hated about last season as they glossed over so much good stuff

If you watched the stuff after the credits, it appears to have diverged from the game significantly. I'm not sure we can confidently say "all of the material." We don't appear to know the material.

Didn’t watch anything after the credits but I’d imagine some of the major things that happen in the game they’ll stick to much like GOT did until they ran out of material

I personally would give the episode a 7.5/10. It was never meant to be a masterpiece or anything it's mostly just set up for what's to come. We've seen how fractured the relationship between Ellie and Joel has become in the last five years. We've seen Joel become a more relaxed person who's more willing to open up. We also met some new characters including a whole new group with Abby and her crew.
People have a problem with Ellie being an a-hole but she's a 19 year old acting out against her dad. She's going to be an a-hole especially one in Ellie's situation. She also knows she's immune so she's naturally more willing to do stupid shite over even people like Dina and Jessie

I just don't like her look. I don't like how her being a lesbian is paramount to the show. I don't want to watch 2 teenage lesbians dancing, and one take the butch role with her hands on others hips and the other putting her hands on Ellie's shoulders because she's the "man" lesbian. I don't care about a 16 year old lesbian love life. It just screams PC.
Even on the far left website that is Reddit, there's a fair amount of people that don't like her casting. They say it's because she doesn't look like the video game character which may be true, but I also think everyone has a tad feeling of "please get this butch girl that wears men's suits off the screen and replace her with a more to video game woman."

For what it’s worth Ellie is 19 at this point, not 16. Season 2 starts 5 years after season 1.

Yeah appears they are gonna change some stuff which makes sense with the changing of mediums.
I dont hate Bella like others but i wouldve rather had someone else. Im about 90% sure Bella was a HBO choice and not a Druckman choice but im not sure we'll ever find out. HBO liked Bella in game of thrones and studio heads have been known to interfere with casting as a condition of making a show.

She won more awards for season 1 of the last of us. Hell she was nominated for the Emmy for Outstanding lead actress in a drama series.
It isnt for everyone, especially a lot of us that played the games, but apparently a lot of people are really enjoying her performance.

Claims to be a “they”, has what appears to be a touch of Downs, and also seems to be on the spectrum which can all fit boxes within DEI hirings.
I have no clue why she was hired here and likely its the GoT connection with HBO, but a white woman hired over another white women doesn’t automatically rule out being a DEI hire.

Did I miss the build up for the attraction between Elle and the other girl? It seemed like they went from normal friends to making out on the dance floor in a matter of seconds. Maybe it's me but I just don't like this show that much. I feel like there is something there but the execution is off

Havent seen anything about having downs besides that one poster in here that called Kaitlyn Devers a steroid tranny so i wouldnt take anything he says seriously
