The means of that weren't made explicit, but I thought the effect was clear.

Tess (She will always be Olivia/Fauxlivia to me) had an exposition dump in the second episode of season 1 when they were observing the infected from a balcony. She says the tendrils can run for over a mile and disturbing one can alert a dozen infected somewhere else. Here is the clip.

They jacked up the distance and number of infected but I think that’s aligned with the idea that they are evolving.

you want your mind blown as to what fungi are capable of and how completely in control of the natural world they are, read a book called “entangled life”.

I was just thinking of what book to pick up next

I can’t recommend it enough. It is absolutely riveting and not cold or clinical at all

it will also make this show way more engaging when you dig a little deeper as to what’s actually going on.

Yeah fungi are pretty hellish just look at what the real world cordyceps does to ants and other insects. Basically turns ants into zombies and redirects them to the colony and releases spores that infects any other incests in the vincinity

It's difficult to even find a thread about a show that doesn't get infected.

That's because the infection comes from Hollywood and Woke Silicon Valley.

When there's a rotten tree, the fruit it bears will be rotten as well.

it’s worse even than that…cordyceps invades the ant body and takes over function of everything but the brain, directs the ant to the precise altitude and alignment on a plant to sprout the fruiting body, cements the ant to the stem, and then consumes the ant and releases spores directly over the ant colony to start the process all over again. Fungi are more closely related to animals than plants

Most of us just dont subscribe to YouTubers and form/reaffirm our opinions of things based off of theirs.

Most folks aren't cool either.

YT is just another means by which to gain information. But not from Corporate mouthpieces or phony shills. Just real folk who usually have some background or experience in their fields of interest.

And you try to make that sound like a bad thing?

You do you.

Why wouldn’t Jackson use that cabin Abby’s group was at as an out post or something? It in clear line of sight to Jackson. They could have built it up to sort of like a barracks.

Maybe seemed like it may have been too far out to be used as such cause you'd also need 24/7 guarding. It may have been a check in station for one of the ranger teams was used on a run this time.

that's true. they shouldve made it further away because of the town being able to see the smoke from the fire at least, but i'm sure it was done that way for time/budget reasons.

That place was also far too clean for being an abandoned building

No it just shows how poorly you comprehended that scene. It's not a girl boss moment it pretty obviously shows how Ellie is pissed off at everyone and how she's making mistakes. Which of course is later confirmed when she nearly gets herself killed later on. She's not supposed to come off as some badass there that's on you for assuming that. She's acting out and everyone is calling her out on her shite
The scene didn’t bother me but holy shite man.

You’re insane.

Sure, he had an opportunity to potentially knock her out with a punch that he pulled a little bit during a sparring match. That doesn’t change the other 99% of it where she was a fricking BEAST and unbelievably hard to handle.

I get Abby wanting revenge but it kind of makes zero sense that she would have this crew of people that are ok going to the ends of the earth on this revenge tour with her. Especially with her being a boss bitch to them the entire time. I can see it working in a video game, but it didn't work in the show. It just felt dumb that they were willing to do all that.
I agree.

Hell it was hard to believe she’d torture him as long and brutally as she did knowing she has this rock solid code that even let her spare the girl even though the girl is CLEARLY going to be hunting them down after what they made her watch.

But all the others being cool with it? Absolutely not. That was ridiculous.

Do they not know what the dad doctor was going to do?(also, what was he going to do? lol)

They have no clue the girl is immune? What do they think they whole surgery thing was for in the first place?

So I’ve played the game and watched episode 2 and it just dawned on me. Why wouldn’t Jackson use that cabin Abby’s group was at as an out post or something? It in clear line of sight to Jackson. They could have built it up to sort of like a barracks.
I asked my gf this the SECOND they introduced the place. There’s really no folks from town using this as an outpost? It’s got full view zoomed in view of the town for Christ’s sake.

They said earlier that they didn't want to harm anyone else it was only about Joel. And as far as they know Ellie and Dina have zero idea who they were especially where they are now. Abby and her crew at least had leads on where Joel might be due to Tommy being a former firefly the same can't be said for Ellie

Most of the fight she was losing up until she got a leg lock around his neck this was right after he pulled a punch that would have knocked her out.
