The Office - Does anyone think the boom guy, Brian was a weird add in?

It's 9 seasons so not to nitpick things but It's weird add in the to the plot to me and it was just an all-around weird thing with no real ending to it.
Did they really need to add anyone else with a crush on Pam?
Roy, Jim, Ryan asked her out and the Toby obsession was almost creepy and then Bryan the boom guy I thought was a mistake it was a near perfect show.

Well everything the last 2 or 3 seasons was weird. Some worked, most didn't still the original with Michael Scott is the GOAT comedy.

I think it served as a reminder that the whole show was a documentary.
They had to add in that after 9 years, you'd assume the employees developed relationships with the people filming them.
It did feel somewhat out of place though.

I thought the last season was underrated. For a show that took out an iconic character, I thought the show did a job.

Agreed. I felt they took it a little to far.

The first 3 seasons were focused primarily on Jim and Pam. Once they got together in Season 4, it wasn't about them anymore. I mean, yeah they still had the wedding and having kids and everything, but the tension around their relationship didn't exist anymore. So we had different storylines and things to care about for seasons 5-8. It's almost as if the writers were like "The show was about Jim and Pam, and they haven't had any drama in a while, so let's make their marriage rocky, send them to counseling, and then introduce this Brian character just to spice things up a bit." and none of it was necessary. The show wasn't about their relationship anymore. It just felt forced.

Everyone thinks this.

I didn’t like it but understood it’s purpose although it was a bit overplayed. It was a tool used to smack the audience right in the face back into the documentary aspect of the show in order to enter the final act of the series.
Brian’s probably the guy who Pam is divorcing in her new show LOL. Just under new assumed names after entering the witness protection program when Jim and Toby teamed up for a major strangler killing spree. Both probably lost it when Pam left Jim and refused Toby’s advances. Who knew the office reboot was already under way and it is a drama moonlighting as a comedy on another network.

Meredith: Hey Boom guy, when you going to boom me?

I forgot to add this dude and his relationship to my list of reasons why Pam Beasley is a C.unt.

It was an artificial plot device put in to put some drama into the Jim/Pam storyline that know one cared about anymore.

Meredith and Ryan are the two best characters on the show. I'm doing a rewatch on Netlfix, and there are so many perfectly placed little one liners out of them that are legit lol funny

the frick. Ryan was one of the most useless characters on the show. Just worthless. Very seldom funny, just annoying.

This. It was an awful add to an already bad storyline.

Yeah, it was odd because it seemed like they were setting it up like Pam was going to cheat on Jim or something. Real talk: real life Pam-type wouldn't get half of the attention Pam got on the show.

If Jenna Fischer worked in a shite hole Pennsylvania town like Scranton she would have plenty of guys wanting to get in her drawers.

Plus, she didn't even get a call back from Hottest in the Office recipient Danny Cordray.
