The Patriot with Mel Gibson is one of the greatest films ever made and every American should be required to watch it at least once a year.
Great performances all around, decent CGI for the time, and a great story. I wish Hollywood would make more Revolutionary War films, but they wouldn't do it justice nowadays. We are lucky to have this movie.

This should be required viewing for every high school American history class. You really cannot beat the realism and accuracy.

Maybe one of the greatest unintentional comedies ever made, but yes, certainly a guilty pleasure.

Curious to see when it gets pulled like Gone With the Wind did given the family slaves being treated like family in the Patriot.

They weren't slaves in the Patriot save for that one slave fighting with the Rebellion for his freedom.

It’s a must watch anytime it’s on TBS.

The Patriot is a terrific movie. I about pissed my pants as a kid watching the scene where Tavington is searching for the boy in the dining room.
Tavington is one of the best villains in history.

The blacks that worked for him state in the movie they are free. At the time I thought it was a ridiculous white washing of history. But otherwise it would probably be pulled from Netflix so I guess it was a pretty smart foresight.

The fact that we remember the Boston Massacre where only 5 people died and wouldn’t remember the church burning where dozens if not a hundred people died is completely ridiculous. That is so severe that it probably would have kept us out of the First World War. But it’s why it’s hilarious is that idiots buy this.
