and wouldn’t remember the church burning where dozens if not a hundred people died is completely ridiculous. That is so severe that it probably would have kept us out of the First World War. But it’s why it’s hilarious is that idiots buy this.
You understand its fiction right?

Say what you want overall, but watching it in the theatre, the hatchet scene was amazing.

You do realize they weren’t filming a documentary right?

I’d be pissed as frick if I were British. The burning of the church scene was based on a historical crime, but one committed by the Nazis. If say there was a movie based on the Spanish American War and they put a Nazi war crime in that, you’d be outraged. Sorry, I look at it comedically, but if you want to treat this as a serious film, then no. That’s one of the most insulting scenes in film history. Brits are rightfully pissed about it.

American military are portrayed as villains in film all the time, they can get over it.

Turn: Washington’s Spies is basically a more historically accurate TV series of The Patriot. You know, if you’re looking for something in the same vein.

I was thinking the same thing the last time I watched it.

British did all kinds of bad things on other countries. India They should have fought smarter to keep colonies.
Turn is a great show , shows both sides

This should be required viewing for every high school American history class. You really cannot beat the realism and accuracy.

Mel is at his best when he can stick it to the British.

The blacks that worked for him state in the movie they are free. At the time I thought it was a ridiculous white washing of history.
That part really bugged me. I get its a movie, but making them free men in 1780 South Carolina just was so eye rolling.

You're right. Should be shown in college as well.

The actress that was that adorable girl in that heart breaking scene died in 2014 at the age of 21 from possible 'huffing'. Tragic story
