So this appears to be a knockoff of, or at least inspired by someone’s drunken synopsis of A Quiet Place - deaf girl, monsters that hunt by sound, etc. I decided to watch it because it had Stanley Tucci and Kiernan Shipka on the title card. Turn your brain off and it’s okay but I warn you not to expect much more than your slightly above standard B-rate horror flick.

***Spoiler ahead.***

The dog dies.

On a scale of 1 to birdbox how would you rate this.

And I know some hate on birdbox but I found it very enjoyable for a straight to Netflix movie and recommend a watch.

FWIW: movie was filmed a year before a quiet place and based on a book released before a script was drafted for a quiet place.

In fact, a quiet place took from heat from the book fans for being a rip off of it.

This movie is terrible. And how come the deaf girl speaks so clearly? Makes no sense.

Didn’t she say that she had to adapt because she became deaf? I assumed she had learned to talk while still being able to hear.

I’d say that if you enjoyed Birdbox then you’ll enjoy this one enough to not regret watching it. The production quality is very good, as is most of the acting, but it does feel like they decided to save a few dollars in post on the monster CGI.

Oddly enough John Krasinski and Stanley Tucci are brother in laws
