Wasn't Barry a senior in high school last season? He even had a senior prank. Meanwhile, he's still in high school in season 6. I feel like he's been in high school all six seasons. It felt like something similar happened with Erica.

most times they start out with actual 9 yr old kids and 6 years later they are still teenagers playing the part of 9 year old kids who are now 11 year olds

Lanie dropped out of college last season. She played at Barry's senior prom which he couldn't attend because of a senior prank.

Adam's oldest brother was gone before he knew him, so network/he decided to swap him for a girl for situational writing purposes. Worked well IMO
Hayley is an absolute smokeshow and can sing her arse off. Have a very good mutual friend here in town.
