These are all good-to-all time great movies... I doubt this is really the list of "most accurate". Seems to be a list of "mostly accurate good movies"

I read the book Goodfellas was based on before I saw the movie. I don't remember any major changes.

Outside of the central question of what Oppenheimer said to Einstein, that was a pretty historically accurate film as well.

Apollo 13 (1995)
The astronauts had some issues with the accuracy on this one.

Goodfellas for instance. The Lufthansa heist was fairly accurate for what was reported by the guy that was paid to tell the story of an unsolved crime.
Everything else is fictional drama told by the guy who was paid to tell the story.

Watching Tora tora tora and then midway (the original) is pretty close to a history minor in the pacific theater. Love those two movies.

I’m guessing they forgot to include sports movies.
Feels like a few sports movies were critically successful and were “historically accurate”
Raging Bull
Moneyball
Pride of the Yankees
Rudy

I’m surprised Black Hawk Down didn’t make the list.

No and a huge no.
Multiple ND'ers have come forward to talk about the multiple falsehoods in Rudy
quote:
What wasn’t shown in the movie “Rudy” was Heavens rushing for a freshman-record 148 yards against Georgia Tech.
“I set a record and Rudy makes a tackle and gets all of the glory,” Heavens said, again with a laugh. “I would say the film is 50% reality and 50% Hollywood.

Revisit this topic in a few more years and Idiocracy will top this list. Hell, we're damn close to it right now.

quote:Huh? The books it was adapted from are fictional. Also, the 'Acheron' was actually an American ship, not a French one (or a Dutch one of you're going with the other book). They just didn't think American audiences would watch a film in which we are the bad guys.
29. Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003)

What? Goodfellas is much more accurate than that and the movie deviates very slightly from Henry Hill's book. Screen Rant. Scorsese took some liberties with Hill's role in the family and changed a few names but it is largely accurate. The Scorsese gangster flick that was grossly inaccurate was The Irishman.
