To those upset by no Robert's Rebellion spinoff, I bring good news

I know many were pining for this interesting era of Westerosi history first hand so that we may view more than a glimpse of some major characters in their prime.
Rhaegar Targaryen, Eddard Stark, Arthur Dayne, Barristan Selmy...there were so many great heroes at the top of their game during this time, and perhaps none more than Robert Baratheon whom we've seen none of.
Or have we?
I'm here to tell you, there was no need for a full series centered on Robert's Rebellion because the young Robert has already been done to perfection in another series, and his name is....
Sterling. Archer.
You heard me.
Yes, it was another time and another place, but it can't be denied that all of the clues are there:
Dark hair
Steely blue eyes
Combat prowess
Muscled like a maiden's fantasy
Rampant alcoholism
Promiscuous nature
The list goes on and on, but if you REALLY want to see a side-by-side comparison of the two watch the episode of Archer as Pirate King. You won't be disappointed.

You got any pics of Archer with red laser beams coming out of his eyes? Until then, I say nay.

Awwww, you guys are no fun.

I just would've like to see the Battle of the Bells.
Rebellion's dark hour, Robert is wounded and hiding in the city. Jon Connington arrives and does house by house. Ned arrives with reinforcements. It turns into a battle like Stalingrad minus the guns and siege. Jon loses and asks Tywin what he should've done?
"Burn the town."

Aside from drinking and whoring, I think that they have very little in common. Robert was a fricking moron who just happened to be strong, vengeful, but strangely affable. Archer is a glorified manchild who is insanely nerdy, has massive mother issues bordering on incest, and treats literally everyone with contempt.

Who's to say that Robert's own philandering nature isn't descended from his relationship with his mother? We already had evidence of him being a man whore before he lost Lyanna while staying with Jon Arryn, and his childhood before that is largely unexplored. Both are manchildren.
I will grant you the likely difference in intellect and undoubted difference in charisma, though.

I'd also like to argue that Robert is not a narcissist. He's delusional as frick, sure, but this doesn't make him a narcissist. I don't think he overestimates his own abilities and was forced onto the throne. Robert realizes when he fricks up and will apologize, something a narcissist will almost never do. He is extremely empathetic. The only thing I think he has in common with narcissists is his quick temper.
Now compare this to all the Lannister children, all 3 being nearly off the charts in this. All of them overestimate their intelligence and skills. They blame others for every horrible thing that has happened in their life. They either have no empathy for anyone outside of themselves or can quickly turn off that trait if they so choose (Tyrion while empathetic to societal outcasts can do this as well; Jaime was also more than willing to murder Arya just so Cersei could get her rocks off). They almost never apologize for anything. They're obsessed with themselves, which Jaime and Cersei have taken into overdrive with their incestuous relationship.
Jaime has obviously gotten much more humble as the series progressed, but then he can threaten to send Edmure's son to him in a trebuchet. As for Tyrion and Cersei, they've doubled down. Tyrion blames every horrible thing that has happened to him and the acts he's committed on his father (somewhat justifiably), while Cersei will blame everyone from Tyrion to her tailor for every bad thing that happens to her. Archer is obviously more cut from Lannister than Baratheon cloth.

A very solid character analysis and point.
I shall edit accordingly.

somewhat justifiable? they dude had his own son sent to executioner just for being born and then slept with the love of his life and turned her against him.
i love my dad and i'd kill him for less.
ETA: let me add, had his first wife raped, made him clean the sewers, allowed his grandson to treat him like shite, took credit for the salvation of King's Landing, denied him the birthright of Casterly Rock, etc.

Tywin actually did something much, much worse to Tyrion in the books which provokes him killing Tywin once he finds out about it. Sentencing Tyrion to die was a blip on the radar compared to this in his mind that he didn't even bring it up.
But inside his head, every little flaw about himself, he blames on his father. Does his father have a lot to do with the man Tyrion is today? Yes. But Tyrion treats people horribly for no reason much of the time and does terrible things, of which I don't think he can blame his father. But it all boils down to Tywin when Tyrion does something egregious in his mind, and that's the same line Cersei thinks about Tyrion.

allowed his grandson to treat like shite,
You can't put that on Tywin at all. Tywin sent Tyrion down there specifically to control Joffrey and Cersei. Tywin reprimands Joffrey on a few occasions and did not reprimand Tyrion for threatening to geld Joffrey when he was going to try to strip Sansa down and likeky rape her with Lord's Right. Tywin doesn't want Joffrey doing that crap to Tyrion, especially publicly. I don't think even Tyrion blamed Tywin for that and more Cersei and Robert being awful parents.

When does Tyrion treat anyone horribly? Hell he even looks out for his kidnapper in the books.
Joffrey he tries in vain to educate, even his sister he just has words about.

i'm struggling to remember that in books or show. he's no saint, but he's mostly kind.

Usually when he's an arse he calls himself on it.
But he does everything he can to be bloodless.

Mostly verbally, but Penny and Jorah certainly come to mind. He also considers poisoning Jon Connington and then later poisons a prostitute for really no reason. This is more post-Tywin murder Tyrion.

Ehhh he had Penny’s back I felt most of the time. I dunno. I just view him as a shitlord with a heart of gold.

Dumb. That’s like me starting a thread and saying, are you upset with LSU football? Well don’t fear, the Spurs just signed another center.
