Too much TV: Shows canceled in 2023

We need three or four more strikes. Just saw a compilation of shows canceled in 2023. I haven't heard of 90% of these and I can not fathom how studios are just wildly producing shows with no hope of return on investment unless I really misunderstand the economics. They all bitch about losing money, but they have a full lineup of shows no one has ever heard of.

I can honestly say I haven’t seen not the first show on that long list

I'm gonna kinda miss Avenue 5
It was a strange show. It wasn't laugh out loud funny, more of a chuckle show, but it felt like it was starting to hit a stride.

I didn't realize that Perry Mason wasn't coming back. That sucks.
Sucks to lose Heels too.
Pennyworth, Titans, and Doom Patrol were limping along after transferring from other platforms, so they got a longer life than expected.

It may just be a sign of the times, but I was only aware of maybe half dozen of any of these and didn't watch a single episode.
I guess I'm not alone.

1899 and The Peripheral were cool.

This golden age of tv programming is ending rapidly. The studios way overspent on content both in terms of number of shows and production quality and did not charge enough to cover their nut. They did it in a competitive race to acquire subscribers. And the pandemic killing movie revenue that was subsidizing the streaming productions only exacerbated this.
Now that the subscription numbers have stabilized they will cut way back on quality and quantity. And we will pay more. For less. A lot less.

i wouldn't mind another couple seasons of 1899

Real issue is too many streaming platforms/networks.

Didn't know about most of these but the amount that are a spin off or remake is what is depressing.

This is the only shows I'm pissed about. The rest of these shows are complete garbage and deserve to bargain binned.

Disney and Peacock were really trying to mine nostalgia and failed miserably

Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin is the only show on that list that I've seen.

In ten years a company is going to come out that lets you subscribe to all 120 streaming services and you only pay one fee to that one company which would be less than paying for them all individually. They'll call themselves Cable 2.

A handful of those that are good shows cut short.
The Great (Hulu)
Winning Time (Max)
Perry Mason (Max)
It’s unfortunate they couldn’t put some of that money into sustaining those handful of shows.
I worry we’ll see more decent content from Max get cut for the 20th my 1,000 life show.

I liked 1899.
Young Wallander was good too. Sorta weird though that it’s a Swedish show that they do in English.

Hilarious show that I definitely recommend.
They knew they were getting cancelled after this past season so it's an easy watch.
