Which one is better?

Saw it in Dolby (my first Dolby experience - IMAX fan), I would say that for this movie, there's likely a significant difference in sound quality that would make the Dolby the preferable venue.

Dolby is my go to.
Same, but tonight's showings are all sold out so we're doing Imax.

There are hardly any real IMAX venues left.
I choose dolby for the better seats... I know.

Is it real Imax with dual laser projection and huge screen? If yes that is better. If it's fake Imax probably a wash but would lean toward Dolby.
The closest real Imax to me is 45 mins northwest of Atlanta and has terrible seating. So I stick to Dolby Cinema with the comfy recliner that is 10 mins away.

I just saw it in IMAX. I just don’t have the words. I loved every bit.

Yeah and it's a shame as most of the real ones left are at museums etc that don't show regular movies. Sadly most are fake Imax (i.e. no huge screen).
You can find a list of all Imax theateres worldwide along with their specs.
https://lfexaminer.com/theaters/
In Georgia there are 14 Imax theaters, but only 2 are real Imax with huge screens that can do either laser or 70mm film.

I seen it on I-Max Tuesday at the premiere and it did the job.

Saw IMAX last weekend, Dolby tonight.
Dolby by a mile!!
IMAX only had a superior screen in the past but now Dolby has the same one with amazing sound. My chair was shaking as the F-18’s were taking off. Bad. arse!

I'm glad you got an apples to apples comparison. They're not close in my opinion.
IMAX used to be filmed on 70mm film as opposed to 35mm. The resolution was about 10x better as a result.
Digital IMAX is basically just branding now. The increased resolution is no more and most of the theaters are just retrofitted, sometimes with the same screen as before.
Dolby is the best premium theater experience at the moment. Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos combined with their seats is fantastic.
I've never seen a Regal ScreenX movie before but I'm curious about that experience.

Only IMAX experience I ever thought was worth the distinction was the first one I saw in L.A. 25 years ago.
Then everyone wanted to claim IMAX so they could charge a premium and we got a faux product with downsized screens.
Used to be a picture guy but nowadays, screens are screens. Sound is the only difference among venues.

So out of that website, how do I tell if a theater is the full experience or not? Which formats are it?

Traditional IMAX screens are about 80ft tall. That allows for the movie to be displayed in the 1.43:1 aspect ratio.
In order to get the full experience the movie needs to be shot in that aspect ratio and on 70mm film. Displayed by a 70mm IMAX projector. (15 perf/70mm to be exact). That allows for a much higher resolution. Basically Christopher Nolan is the only director using this format though.
There are now laser IMAX projectors that display in 4k but at older theaters their digital projectors are only 2.9k resolution.
There are also digital cameras that are catching up to 15/70 film cameras in terms of resolution. 15/70 is filmed in 18k, while digital cameras are filming in 8k.
So in the future the camera and projector won't be as big of a deal but the aspect ratio will still be what differentiates between real IMAX and digital IMAX.

First criteria is the screen size. In general, the real Imax screens have a height closer to 80' where the fakes ones are closer to 50'
The next thing is the projection format supported. Old school Imax films would be projected using 15 perf 70mm film. This is very rare now and as someone mentioned only Nolan is really doing this format anymore. In the "Fmt" column, you'd look for code '1570'.
Fake Imax will have regular digital projection (code 'D') which has a resolution of about 2K.
Imax with laser projection has 4K resolution (code 'DL'). Some theaters use multiple laser projectors (code 'DL2' = dual laser projection). So choose one that has uses laser; ideally multiple laser.

My son saw it in both, said Dolby was the way to go and the difference was very noticeable
