The last we remember him is attacking Moxon in the Locker room at halftime

He never coached again. Did you not listen to Mox’s monologue at the end?

That movie 22 yrs ago was a sign of the times and how this country has become a bunch of self entitled pussies now.

That every kid got a motherfrickin' trophy

A nation of pussies is our next generation”

He quit coaching. Only lived for about 1 1/2 years after the incident. No one in town would even acknowledge him anymore. Went down hill quickly. Died alone.
I’ll give him this much, the old bastard almost makes you feel sorry for him when he’s trying to rally the team to go back out for the second half and not a soul followed him. Almost, but not.

When I originally watched the movie, I saw it through the eyes of a teenager and related to the players. I rewatched it a couple of weeks ago and found a whole new respect for it watching it through the eyes of a parent/adult. It was like two different movies. Phenomenal movie if it can do that, IMO.
I got such a kick at the dads watching practice and talking about how it was back in their day and how getting chewed out builds character. Lol. How the radio announcers, parents, and coaches treat the kids is absolutely spot on and hilarious.

Such a great stupid movie. With and awesome soundtrack.
Oh and before this thread goes another step.

High school coaches can hide from this sort of thing. Prob moved to another state and created another dominant program.
Also, Friday Night Lights was a much better movie.

They are completely different movies. The only thing they share is the setting of High School football.
Don't compare them, it's not apples and apples.

What happened to all of his assistants and why was Lance anointed head coach after halftime?

Much like with Jebadiah Springfield, it's sometimes better to allow the legends to live on, despite the truth.

He was appointed during a player’s only meeting.

Most unrealistic part of that movie. That player would have beaten that old man's arse.

I have a dream where there is a varsity blues sequel.
Mox is a professor at Brown. He gets a phone call from Jules out of the blue to find out her brother Lance (now long time head coach of the Coyotes) and Billy Bob were killed in a car accident on the way home from a coaching clinic. Mox heads back to West Cannan for the first time since graduation for their funerals.
Darcy is now a high school teacher, leaving for college but rekindling her romance with Lance and marrying him now dealing with being a widow with their star qb son that just lost his dad.
Tweeter, now sheriff, is dealing with the investigation of the accident losing his best friends.
Wendell won the Heisman trophy at Grambling and had a long and successful NFL career before retiring and moving into a consulting business.
Mox sits at the funeral rekindling some old friendships before the biggest shock when he sees Kilmer walk out at the front of the church to lead the service. Kilmer is now a Baptist preacher and leads the congregation of the small town. They have a terse exchange after the service where Mox doubts his sincerity
Mox is asked to stay on and coach the Coyotes, who are in the middle of their season and competing for a championship. Story ensues, you know:
-Hooks up with Jules, etc
-Deals with getting Lances son to come to terms with his fathers death
-Tweeter gets to experience the irony of dealing with football players doing all the same shite he used to do.
-Mox and Kilmer finally come to terms with their past, and the events from the last movie

You’ve written a better script than anything Hollywood has produced in a couple years
