new Christian high priest
Just watched the last episode.
I think the Christian priest is about to become one badass Viking. He seemed to love the town cheering his name after killing the Viking guy. Interesting plot story going on there. Ivar took the priest just like his dad - Ragnar took Athelstan.
May be the end of Floki. His followers don't seem to be very impressed with their new digs.
Ubba's wife is going to get him killed if she tries to pit him against Bjorn for the kinghood.
Lagertha is a beautiful woman.

I'm assuming Loki found Iceland, with the black beaches and all. I hope that storyline doesn't stick, and there are two unrelated stories going on all season.

At least it has gotten a little more interesting. When Floki first left the others in England until he returned to Kattegat it was a terrible waste of time. I did become interested in it when the big Viking told his daughter to not be concerned because the place couldn't be a bad as it looked. Ha
It's like they want to keep Floki on the show and involved in a storyline but don't want him to be involved with Ragnar's (his best friend) sons and ex-wife going to war with each other.

Finally watched the most recent episode last night.
My takes:
I'm not sure about how strong Halfdan's (Harald's brother) allegiance is to Bjorn. It was interesting the way he was looking all over the place when they got to Kattegat. He was wondering if his brother was dead since he knew Harald had the earl's son attack and was heading there himself when he left England.
Bjorn's new love interest while wearing the garment on her head looks exactly like Aethelwulf's wife. This show seems to do that quite often. I never could tell the difference between Torvi and Helga unless they were with either Bjorn or Floki. Ubbe's wife looks similar to both of them also.
My favorite conversation from the show:
Guthrum: "Thank you Bjorn, it's beautiful. Perhaps one day I will get to meet this Euphemius".
Bjorn: smiling "Alas, no you will not. Halfdan and I ate him".
Guthrum: scoffs "You ate him"?
Bjorn: "Well, not on purpose".
2nd favorite conversation: Short and to the point.
Lagertha: to the Sami King: "My son would like to sleep with your daughter".
Talk about a wingman. How could the guy say no to that face?
The Ivar and Christian priest story is getting more and more interesting. I don't think the priest is smarter than Ivar but he seems to be more driven. He may turn out to be more evil than Ivar. His addition to the battle strategies may help fake out the Kattegat group who know Ivar's strategies.
I'm starting to like Athelstan's son Alfred. The reaction of the monks at the monastery when he told the head monk that Ragnar Lothbrook had given him Athelstan's cross was interesting. Alfred may be the smartest Christian on the show.
I think the priest is the only person I have ever seen intimidate Ivar, including Ragnar. When the priest told Ivar he could believe in him, Ivar definitely looked intimidated.
*** Interesting fact. I said Torvi and Helga looked just alike to me. In looking for pictures of them I found this - Torvi is played by Georgia Hirst, while Helga was played by Maude Hirst.
"Georgia is in fact the daughter of creator and writer of the series, Michael Hirst and younger sister of Maude Hirst also known as Helga on Vikings."
The writer killed off his own daughter on the show. Like the actor who plays Floki said a long time ago, "No one can feel safe". If was after they had killed off one the bigger actors or characters in the show.

Caught an episode of this last night. Not sure if it was a new one (Cox Guide had the "new" symbol but that doesn't always mean much).
I haven't watched regularly since the first couple of seasons and it was kind of hard to make sense of what was going on. I may have to go back and do a rewatch/binge.

Yeah, after that I was surprised Harald escaped. What the hell was he thinking?

Saw Wednesday's episode last night. I hadn't watched it and thought you were talking about Harald.
Damn, she's done stole the priest from Ivar and had fun with him too.
There are definitely worse imprisonments than being with Lagertha.

Watching the season 5 promotional clips I thought the priest was gonna be a badass main character deeply rooted in the plot. Instead, so far he has hardly been developed and just goes around swearing allegiance to whoever happens to be around him. I am disappoint.

Well, that's it for this season until sometime in 2018 when the last 10 S5 episodes air.
Episode 10 was mostly uneventful with an interesting cliffhanger twist at the end.

Not a fan of all the jumping around stuff in this episode. The cliffhanger was interesting.
As much as I love Floki his storyline has become boring and takes away from the main plot.

My favorite character Halfdan got killed in the dumbest way possible. I'm pissed! Wasn't a big fan of the structure of the episode with all the flashbacks although it was pretty cool seeing young Lagertha

I just finished the last episode and I’m shocked that a few of you didn’t care for it. I thought it was probably the best episode I’ve ever seen and I’ve followed the show from the beginning.

It was different that's for sure, Just when you were getting into the battle they flashed out of it. I don't know if the flashbacks provided anything that we didn't already know.
I've never noticed Lagertha kissing her Thor necklace before this episode. It's like they had to add that part just to have a flashback that didn't add anything to the storyline.
Damn, Lagertha was giving the Christian priest some tongue when they were kissing. I'm with the other guy in the thread who said he would like to be taken prisoner by her.
I am pumped that Rollo will be back even if it will be brief. Even though he has been a screw-up quite often he was always my favorite character.
