I don't even see a notary.

Of course it was legal. Harry Wormwood was an honorable man who would never break the law...

Anyone else remember the evil old lady forcing the fat kid to eat chocolate cake?

As a kid, I usually shied away from movies centered on female characters but loved Matilda.
Danny Devito's narration in it is one of the most soothing things I've ever heard, and Miss Honey adopting her usually makes me tear up.
Watching the stage musical present the very starkly gruesome nature of the school and the children as victims of abuse really took me aback quite a bit, and the song "When I Grow Up" is so beautiful and so sad.
