I was waiting for you to mention Leo Gorcey in Angels With Dirty Faces
?

Most if not all of the DEK were about the right age, maybe a few years older.

Trivia: Leo was supposed to be on the Sgt Pepper album cover, but asked for a fee to allow use iof his image (how large a fee is disputed -- some sources say $400, others say $10K). So he was airbrushed out of the picture, leaving Huntz Hall all by his lonesome.

Charisma Carpenter was almost 30 when she was playing a 16 year old on Buffy. Looked a tad ridiculous.

Henry Fonda was 50 when he played a young Lt. (J.G.) in Mister Roberts.

John Ford tried to get around the obvious age problem by casting older actors to make up the cast of "young" WW II sailors. (William Powell was 62, playing the role of an active Navy ship's physician.)
Apparently when the play was being cast the frontrunner for Roberts was David Wayne (then age 33). Even he was too old for a character who's around 27 (Roberts dropped out of med school to join the Navy). However Henry Fonda was having some problems in Hollywood, being "graylisted" due to his liberal politics. He went back to Broadway and expressed interest in the role of Roberts. The producers were thrilled to have a big star in the cast, and Wayne agreed to move over to the role of Ensign Pulver, for which he was also too old (Pulver is supposed to be just out of the frat house, in his early 20s).

If you only know the film you get a misleading impression of Mister Roberts and author Thomas Heggen's intentions. He based the character of Roberts to a large degree on himself, or more accurately an idealized version of himself. Doug Roberts is supposed to represent all the promising young men who were lost in the war. But Fonda in the movie comes off as a father figure.

Keep in mind producers prefer to cast HS student roles with college age actors or older, to avoid union limitations on the # of hours-per-day child actors can work

There's no way on Earth Sloane from Ferris Bueller was a junior in high school. Camron was old as hell too.

Mia Sara (Sloane) was 18 during filming. Broderick (Ferris) was 23. Alan Ruck (Cameron) was 29.

Alan Ruck was like Curtis "Booger" Armstrong in these films. Armstrong was ~30 in Risky Business (playing Miles, a high school senior classmate of Cruise's Joel - Cruise himself was 21 and De Mornay was about 24), and 31 in the first Revenge of the Nerds film (playing a college underclassman).

Ditto for Animal House - most of those cats were late 20s, early 30s (Bacon "All is well!" - was age-appropriate at 19).

ETA: And, of course Bacon was 25 or 26 when filming Footloose - his character was a high school senior. Lori Singer (female lead in Footloose) was a year older, while Chris Penn and SJP were close at about 19.

Luke Perry and Ian Ziering were 45 years old when they started on 90210.

Gabrielle Carteris looked like she was twice their age. (she was the oldest at 29 and was playing a 16 year old )

What's funny is she is pushing to make a law that takes actors' ages off of sites like IMDB.
quote:

“My role on Beverly Hills, 90210 could not have happened for me today, plain and simple,” the actress continued. “I would never have been called to audition for the part of 16-year-old Andrea Zuckerman if they had known I was 29. Electronic casting sites did not exist in 1990; today, they are prevalent and influential. And they affect casting decisions even when casting personnel don’t recognize their unconscious bias.”

Carteris adds that AB 1687 has already passed through both houses in the California legislature. Now, it just needs Governor Jerry Brown’s approval.

“I was allowed the opportunity to create a signature character on an iconic television show. That changed the trajectory of my life and career, and I am forever grateful,” she wrote. “Enacting this law in California will benefit performers around the country and media consumers who want to see movie and television roles played by the very best people for the job.”

Basically every child in Game of Thrones. But its tough when the events in 5 books occur in about 3 years.
Rob was like 16 when he died.
Dany was supposed to be 14 when she married Drogo.
Tommen was still a child playing with Sir Pounce when he became King and married Margery.
Bran from season 2 forward is the worst though

Just looked up that Christina Applegate was 20 when that movie came out. Not too far off the mark of the characters age. Maybe she just looked older than she was.
