Holy grail and Life of Brian are equal to me.
That said i get why most say holy grail. My sick love and anything that shits on religion is what puts Life of Brian up there with me.

I tried to watch Holy Grail for the first time ever the other day on Netflix with the wife. 10 minutes is all we could stand. Even the intro credits were annoying with the moose bit. I guess I should have watched it when I was 8.

I wonder if more people like Holy Grail because they saw it at a younger age.
That's a valid point on so many memories we create as youngsters and embellished over the years.
However, I just rewatched Holy Grail last week and it's just as funny.
as recalled.
"Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony."

During the Camelot musical number, the prisoner clapping alone kills me every time.

Holy Grail is the benchmark but The Meaning of Life has so many subtle things that make you laugh. Just one example.
Penis song.
Penis song.

Holy Grail is the GOAT.
Every scene is killer.
The encounter with the French castle guards, the large wooden rabbit, the witch, I could go on and on.
One scene that kills me every time, and it's not even one most would think to reference is the "dumb guards" scene.
uh uh if if if if uh.....
That and the whole argument about what type of government they had are just brilliant comedy.

Holy Grail is probably their most cohesive movie and all around funniest
Life of Briannis good but I like The meaning of life better. Just a preferance thing.

Same. I think Grail has more of the pop appeal, but Brian is the better overall. Both are great though, so it's all about splitting hairs

The Holy Grail is the best for me...
But I don't think any movie on the face of this planet made me laugh like Life of Brian's Biggus Dickus. The first time I saw that scene, I had so much tears in my eyes I had to pause the movie for a few minutes...
Also, I made my wife promise me to play Bright Side of Life at my Funeral

Grail was perfect. Especially the scene at the castle and the guards are telling Arthur that their king already has a grail.
And also "Run away, run away."

Holy Grail - but i liked the meaning of life moreso than the life of brian.
but lets be honest - Monty Python just plain rocks
I was thinking this, as well...Holy Grail is the top...but Meaning of Life and Life of Brian are neck and neck for me.
That being said...I can't help my son with his Latin without thinking of this... LINK

Now that Holy Grail is on Netflix, I had the privilege of watching it with my 12 year old son. A few of the jokes went over his head, but he loved it. It was a proud moment.

I saw it when I was 14 or 15. I thought I knew what comedy was until I saw it. Completely changed my sense of humor. It's a masterpiece.
"She changed me into a newt!"
"She did?"
"Well, I..I got better."

Holy Grail is the best Python movie, clearly.
It's nice to see The Meaning of Life getting some love on here. It always seems a bit overlooked but it has some of the best stuff they ever did and I'll put it at #2.
Life of Brian is a close #3.
Live at the Hollywood Bowl is good too.
Some films that came out of Python are pretty good:
Time Bandits - Terry Gilliam (director) wrote it with Michael Palin and several Pythons are seen in it.
A Fish Called Wanda - Written by John Cleese with him and Michael Palin in major roles.
Brazil - Directed by Terry Gilliam with Michael Palin in a major role. This is Gilliam's masterpiece.
