All great movies.

Cloak and Dagger is so underrated but a lot of fun.

The Dark Crystal is probably best if they're a BIT older, just due to some dark themes, but still young.

I was 7 or 8 when it came out and saw it in the theater multiple times, but GenX 8 is not the same as today.

These were favorites of mine growing up. My parents were cool enough to let me watch R movies. I remember they took me to Rambo 3 when I was 8.

I remember as a kid my parents letting me watch Robocop.

Cop getting his hands blown off - okay
Folks doing a ton of cocaine and then getting shot - okay
Guy getting his kneecaps blown off - okay

Naked breasts in the shower - my mom freaks out that we're watching it

I grew up on land before time as a go to as a 90s kid. My favorite movie to watch with my older cousins was the princess bride and labyrinth or the never ending story. I liked those 80s fantasy movies

ETA Saw someone else mention the land before time. That movie got me big into dinosaurs then when I was a little older JP was my favorite movie. Land before time also is what got me to start eating greens my mom would say because I called them “tree stars”. Should work for you too with any luck

Major Payne, but 8 might be a little bit too young.
