To show nothing went walt’s Way. He was a genius making like 40k, living in a shitty house that looked like it was the 70s, and had a retarded kid
When he died, his legacy would be that of a loser

Totally agree with the OP. Walt had more motivation to pay for his own illess than he did his son's. I thought the son's character was pointless myself.

This above all other reasons.

Every episode that spent too much time on walt's family was shitty and dull. Maybe a dick son could've mixed it up a little better and made his domestic life a little more compelling.
His domestic life being dull was part of the reason he fell in love with the kingpin lifestyle. Like he said at the end, he was actually “alive”

and the kid is outright annoying
People could have kicked his crutches out from under him every episode and I would have been fine with it.
Hated his character.

That's the way I felt. Wasn't a sympathetic character and from there, I never gave a thought about how Walt felt about him or how it fit in. Cancer was a better storyline.

Maybe to not make Hank the automatic good guy.
He's married to a thief who he covers-up for as a cop.

I wish at some point Jesse and Jr would have crossed paths.
Maybe trying to get Jesse to buy beer for him, Jesse defending him from bullies, or refusing to sell meth to him and threatening him to scare him straight. Etc.
I know with the movie coming there will possibly be a chance for something.

Walt Jr trying to buy meth???

I thought it was the juxtaposition of his biological son (physically flawed but morally strong) with his “surrogate” son Jesse (physically strong but morally weak).
It seemed to me that Walter desperately wanted Jesse to do things right but he kept screwing up.
That is not an uncommon situation in the relationship between fathers & sons. Walter rarely, if ever, lost patience with Jr but frequently became outraged at Jesse.
Don’t know what message or insight the writers wanted us to learn though; not that smart.

What was the point of Walter White Jr having cerebral palsy?
It’s to show how bad the turn is for Walter.
He’s clearly just as annoyed by his wife and kid as you are and then you compare and contrast his turn to what you’d do in the same situation to create more drama.
They very obviously set this up.

He was already trying to buy beer before shite went south. After everything he went through all if a sudden, I can see him trying to find some escape with his occasional friends.

I don't understand how you do not get this...It's pretty simple. Make him an Anti-hero. Someone you cheer for despite them doing wrong. Then they challenge that feeling over and over to add a drama to the story.

He used it at one point to motivate Walt to get the cancer treatment. AS well as to motivate Hank to get out of the wheel chair. Hank was feeling sorry for himself and Walt Jr gave him some humble pie

I’m rewatching also. I actually almost forgot how good BB was

"You want these pancakes and bacon??? Well yer gonna have to get off your arse and walk to them, Mister!!!"
My favorite undying TV trope is the idea that will power and attitude are the keys to any kind of recovery. In real life, having to go to the bathroom is probably the stongest motivator when you're going through physical rehab. You'll try anything to make that easier.
