Wheel of Time Season 3 dropped, apparently

Hand to God, I didn't know it was getting a 3rd season.
I have been uninterested since they broke lore and fundamentally altered pivotal characters
But somebody has to be watching, right?

Watched halfway through First episode of new season and done for good

Which is curious because there's been some discussion about it running somewhat in tandem with RoP. But that's not coming back until 2027, it seems.

I saw the IMDB ratings were way up for this season's episodes, so I went to the web page
S1 averaged 10k reviews per episode
S2 averaged 4.4k reviews per episode
S3 has averaged 1.3k reviews per episode
At this point somebody will have to find Harvey Weinstein and Jennifer Lawrence themselves to get a season 4

Not hearing anything about this season. Even the so called rage bait YT channels are ignoring it.
No one cares.

This is what happens when you get writers, showrunners, etc. with a God complex to adapt a beloved IP to the screen. They decide they can make it "better" without even understanding why it did so well in the first place.
Even something like the presentation of the magic system, they fricked. While Discovery of Witches was crap, how they visualized the use of magic (at least for the main character's achievements to higher levels) was almost exactly what described in his books and it looked great with good CGI.
All they really needed to do was fix the male/female dynamic so it didn't come across as all the characters being in elementary school, make the trollocs and Ogier look good, and then shore up the middle books and -BAM!- you've got a hit.
Instead, Rafe Judkins decided to make the story far more of an ensemble instead of the primary story being about Rand and the others being important, but still secondary (or tertiary) stories. This has failed miserably, especially his attempt to make S1 a guessing game of who the Dragon Reborn would be.
And he'll probably continue to get work.

It’s trash, every possible negative trope of Hollywood is front and center in this show.

The show was doomed as soon as casting was announced. Just a pitiful woke piece of shite. This is what diversity quota casting gives us. LOTR is what happens when the creators actually care about the source material.

Maybe they pull the plug. 3 years between seasons is a long time

My husband loves this show so I’ve been watching it with him. Not really my thing, but I did think season 2 was better. It kept my attention more at least. Season 3 so far has been ok.

Wheel of Time and Song of Ice and Fire really sum up my growth as a reader. When I started reading them in middle school, I thought they were the best thing ever written. By the time I was in college and later, Book 8 and 9 were coming out and I realized they just weren't very good. They were verbose tomes sold by the inch rather than the word. Which one was it? Book 7 that was over 110,000 words and took place over ONE WEEK, and Mat (the best character) did not feature at all?
Martin and Jordan did one thing for me: They made me realize less is more. They made me appreciate writers like Zelazny and Bester than could convey a complex narrative in less than 40,000 words.

Wheel of Time Season 3 dropped,
Did I miss season 2? I’m going to have to check on that.

Nope. The message must be delivered & Bezos is that stubborn & arrogant to commit to 5 years.

I’m watching and have not read any of the books so I am good with the flow of the 3 series. I am enjoying it.

That way you won't know what you don't know.
It is too late for me

"Hi there, I'm Rafe Judkins. I am not a famous novelist, but I am pretty sure I am better at it than an accomplished world famous author like Robert Jordan.
I understand his world and his characters better than he did, and so I will correct his vision.
Basically I am better than he is.
I will take his tale of Rand Al'thor and turn it into a girlboss tale that effectively sidelines the major characters to give unearned arcs to people who largely were sidelined in the early books"
This is how I imagine he pitched it to Amazon
And Amazon responded "sounds good! But since you are lily white I am going to need you to commit to having very few white people in your cast, irrespective of how characters are described in the inferior hands of Robert 'not as good as good a writer as Rafe Judkins' Jordan"

But will Nynaevwe pull her braid? Will Egwene still be a whiny count?
Those two factors are essential and non negotiable.

I don’t know if I ever would have finished reading the books since I don’t have a lot of free time to sit quietly and read anymore. But I loved listening to all the audiobooks on my daily commute. That said, I think Sanderson did a tremendous job on the final three books. I know not everyone loves his prose, but I like BS’s writing more than Jordan’s and it would have been interesting if BS had written more or all of the books using Jordan’s ideas. I think it would have been a tighter series. Those last three books are my favorites.
