Why did Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing end so abruptly?

I had no idea that Sunday's season finale was supposed to be the season finale until it was over.

They went from eliminating less than 1 contestant per episode on average to eliminating 5 contestants in the same episode and crowning a champion. Typically, there's footage of the champion returning home and reacclimating to society. The season finale on Sunday just ended with the buggy ride out of the savanna.

Do these shows have production budgets that they're not allowed to blow, or do they ever have trouble with passports or length of stay? Been watching Naked and Afraid for years and I've never seen anything like it.
