Why does no one believe Russell Casse even after the aliens destroy the planet?

The man is a hero. A veteran, blue collar and a martyr. Everyone makes fun of him for years but he stays true to his abduction story. Chief Air Force guy has seen a 40 year old space ship and several aliens, still rolls his eyes at Russell. Not one person is like even humors the idea that maybe he wasn’t crazy.
