Why has there never been a live Blues Brothers musical?

The blues Brothers is the greatest musical movie ever put on film. I’ll fight anyone that wants to claim otherwise.
I think we can all agree that it was a fantastic movie. I guess I just am surprised at this point that amongst all the other American musicals that no one has been able to translate this onto the live stage.
What say you about about a broadway run of Jake & Elwood?

Maybe because it is essentially a car chase movie?
Yet, I do love the music.

Great movie, in my personal top 10. But the greatest musical has to be the South Park movie.

It’s a good question, but my guess as to why BB hasn’t been made into a Broadway musical is that, if you think about it, the type of audience who has become big fans of the Blues Brothers movie over the last 45 years isnt exactly the typical person who enjoys Broadway.. there is some crossover (i like both epic car chase movies and Broadway plays- but it doesnt seem like a natural fit.. that said, a musical about one of the country’s founding fathers made even less sense, and yet Hamilton has broken all the records, so what do i know

All musical questions should be asked in the soccer board.

Had the fathers not been portrayed by people of color it would have been a huge flop.

You can see a 15 minute live version at Universal Studios. It's actually quite good
