With all of the Cobra Kai talk, could Johnny Lawrence beat Mike Barnes?

i have to rewatch KKpt3 again to remember just how intense Barnes was, but could Johnny beat him with a level head? It seems that Johnny could be more focused/balanced than Barnes to help give him an edge.
what do y'all think?

Yes. I think Johnny had the size and reach on him.

Barnes was a madman, but yeah I think Johnny would take him.
As you mentioned, Johnny seems to have a bit more discipline and focus, especially now.
The problem for Johnny against Daniel in the original was he was cocky, didn’t take Daniel seriously at all, and it was personal so he let his emotions disturb his focus.
We learn just how bad of a place Johnny was in emotionally over the course of this series and that clearly is what cost him in that tournament.

Yes. Johnny was in a bit of a rough patch in KK1. Ali with an I had just shattered his heart, his senior year wasn’t going the way he envisioned it, he developed a weed habit, etc. I think if he had refocused himself to where he was at junior year he could beat anyone.
Johnny has the strength Barnes did as evidenced by how he easily just flings Daniel to the ground in their bout.

Barnes would kick Johnny's arse..
Think about it. In the LaRusso Match, Johnny was in a fight. In fact he had to resort to an illegal move in hopes of winning by DQ.
Mike Barnes was kicking Larusso's arse and only his self confidence caused him the match. Barnes could have beat Larusso in the first round if he hadn't listen to his "coaches"

Mike Barnes was named Karate's Bad Boy by what I suppose is a martial arts publication.

I think Johnny could've taken him. He had better technique and was a much smoother fighter IMO.
All I know is that Dutch was the most talented fighter in that tournament. He was just too cocky. Under the right tutelage he waltzes through and wins the All Valley trophy.

Mike Barnes would destroy Johnny.
Mike was by far Daniel’s toughest opponent.

If we are talking reality outside of all the BS...Chozen whips all their asses.

But you have to take into consideration that Daniels training leading up to the Mike fight was a joke. Terry Silver wasn't trying to train Daniel to win; he was trying to break him mentally. Daniel probably only had a few weeks of real training for his fight with Mike after Miyagi finally agrees to train him again.
So yeah, Mike dominated. But he probably dominated a 60% version of Daniel. If that...

Dutch was a goon. Bobby Brown was the technician. Dude methodically made the semis without as much as a struggle. Kreese royally fricked him

Not if they were both 17.
Johnny was regional all valley, just local.
Mike was National. Thats completely different competition. The All Valley was beneath Mike, but a business opportunity.
And in reality, he beat the shite out of Daniel to a point where daniel had never been. and breezed through any other competition there. (I also believe Chozen could have been on the national level in USA had he ever competed in tournament competition under Sato in the states)
I like Johnny 10x more and would pull for him though.

Dutch was played by Chad McQueen, who is the son of legendary actor Steve McQueen. I learned that recently lol

Yeah I've known that for a long time, but it's a cool piece of trivia though.
And to the other poster, Dutch would've wiped the floor with Bobby. He would've needed a bobby bag, YEAH.

Daniel's crane kick was an illegal move. He should have been DQ'd and Johnny should have won. He was robbed.

A one legged Daniel beat Johnny.

Daniel only beat Johnny and Mike on points. He would never have a chance against either of them in a real fight. The only way Johnny could beat Mike would be on points as well.

Not to mention daniel was far more experienced in myagi-do by the time 3 came around. He had a year of it day in and day out. So he was better than he was in 1, and..more of a seasoned fighter..lol
I truly believe Bobby would have beat him in 1. Bobby was the only one fighting with a collected mental calmness, he was skilled and had what it took. There was absolutely no pressure on him. Kreese fricked himself in that moment when he snuffed out the most legit threat to Daniel's approach.

Two of Daniels points came from strikes to the face/head (people tend to overlook that Daniels 2nd point was a strike to the back of Johnny's head after a leg sweep). So Daniel strikes to the face/head twice, gets two points. Johnny lands a clear punch to the face that doesn't get counted. Where is the consistency? You can kick to the face and punch to the back of the head and get points, but can't punch to the face? What kinda crazy rules are these?
Also, Johnny lands a clear punch to the body immediately after Daniel scores his first point. It gets ignored by the judges and they keep fighting (which leads to the aforementioned strike to the back of the head point for Daniel)
One legged Daniel didn't beat Johnny. The refs did.

Barnes was a National Karate Bad Boy that they paid and recruited to come in and represent Cobra Kai to try and rebound the brand. He’d destroy Johnny who was really just an All Valley bad arse.
It’d be like the #1 recruit in the nation vs some 2 star kid from Woodlawn.
