I've had 1 for a couple of years and can't decide if I like the sound or not.
Sometimes it sounds pretty good to me, but sometimes it just doesn't do it.
It's a cool little guitar, I enjoy playing it sometimes.
Wondering what to try first. Pots and switches?

Yes
Cheap but sounds nice
Kind of like a Dan electro
Cool for some stuff, but it would be nice to be able to get more use out of it.

I have one. I recently got an Epiphone 60s Les Paul so I gave it to my 12 year old who is a much more natural musician than I am.

The teal color one looks like a Mustang.

Agree with Shane, but it's a different model than mine. Different pickups, trem, switches fretboard etc.
Looks like he has a few others too. Nice collection.

Yeah, I bet it is! Wanting something similar myself, but I want to get a nice 6 string banjo next.
I played a really nice one recently and it has me wanting a good one.

If you like the sound of a Strat, you should like the sound of a Mustang. Mustangs used actual Strat pickups, at least the vintage ones did.
Fender used covers that concealed the rod magnet poles because they would buzz if you touched them. An unavoidable by-product of the in/out phase feature of the circuit.

My favorite sound of it, is the neck pickup only, switched out of phase.
It's a cool sound for 60s style rock rhythms.
You're exactly right though, for most of the other settings, it does sound more like a Strat, which I'm not crazy about.
Maybe I need one of your special p90s for the bridge? and install better pots.
The short scale is really growing on me.

More sure it’s a Jaguar from the switches.

The Classic Vibe series is a good frame work to improve upon. I had a CVC butterscotch Tele that I had for years and gigged with over other more expensive options. Granted, I had upgraded the bridge to a Wilkinson and the wiring harness to Emerson Custom. Stock pickups and stock tuners. It was a workhorse and had many miles on it. Just sold it last week and honestly was a little sad to see it go.
If the body and neck feel good and are quality, then I'd say keep it and tinker.

Agree about the Classic Vibe Telecaster.

I bought the Classic Vibe Jazzmaster in Olympic White to play surf music and I've slowly upgraded.
Started with the pots to 1meg, then the pick-ups to Vintage 65's, then the pickguard to anodized gold (looks AWESOME on the white) and the last upgrades will be the Fender neck and Fender stamped tremolo. It's been a fun project and I'll have about $600 total in it ($200 guitar, $125 pick-ups, $25 pickguard, $15 for two pots, $200 Fender neck, $45 Fender tremolo), plus the items I replaced.
Going to the full 1meg audio taper pots (JM standard) really opened up the sound. Rarely play it on full 10 now.
