For whatever kind of music you’re into, which decade was better and why? Go ahead and include 2021 YTD in the latter decade…
Tell us the kinds of music you like as well and throw out a few examples.

hard for 2010's to beat papa roach, 3 days grace, linkin park, disturbed, godsmack, metallica, chili peppers. i just absolutely love the bands i mention. i just can't get into the music from the music these days or from the 2010's. i might like a song or 2 from a random band, but the overall music kinda sucks. jmo.

Animal Collective- Strawberry Jam
Sunset Rundown- Dragonslayer
2010s

The War on Drugs- Lost in the Dream
Sufjan Stevens- Carrie and Lowell
Jeff Rosenstock- Worry
LCD Soundsystem- This is Happening

2000's by a mile. There's still quality to be found, but it takes wading through endless crap to find.
My "top 10 songs off the top of my head in no particular order" lists for the two decades:
2000's:
Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
Last Train Home - Lost Prophets
Cochise - Audioslave
Blackbird - Alter Bridge
Shameful Metaphors - Chevelle
Niki FM - Hawthorne Heights
Can't Be Saved - Senses Fail
Hate It Here - Wilco
Walking Disaster - Sum 41
The Pot - Tool
Honorable Mention: The Pretender - Foo Fighters
2010s:
Runaways - The Killers
All Alright - Zac Brown Band
Ashes, Pt 2: The Struts
Smile - Durand Jones & The Indications
Sign of the Times - Harry Styles
Shut Up And Dance With Me - Walk The Moon
Help Is On The Way - Rise Against
Sirens - Pearl Jam
Anastasia - Slash & Myles Kennedy
Cry of Achilles - Alter Bridge
Honorable Mention - Uptown Funk - Bruno Mars

dredg and Porcupine Tree were both more active in the 2000s than the 2010s. For that reason alone, I go with the 2000s. The 2010s have put out a lot of fabulous music, though.

Just checking in to say Jeff Rosenstock is so fricking good & it doesn't surprise me to find out he does the music for Craig of the Creek. Another great thing to come out of the 2010's.
BTW, California Wives - Blood Red Youth seems up your alley if you haven't heard it. LINK

Never really realized how solid a lot of the rock coming out in the 2000s was til this thread. At the time it was hard not to compare it against the 90s but looking back now it's held up well.

I think what causes this is that too many folks forget that some of the big artists from the 90’s (slash, chris cornell, maynerd, etc were all still putting out awesome albums into the mid 2000’s. Too many people associate the rock music of the aughties only with pop punk/emo or cock rock bands like Five Finger Death Touch and Nickelback, but there’s actually a really deep roster of excellent rock of all stripes in that decade.
In addition, I think the 2000’s take an unfair lump of criticism for occurring after the transition to gridded music production which occurred during the 90’s.
The 2010’s are a lot tougher because the good shite is buried under mountains of stuff that sounds like cold play and Lumineers.
