Damn. Had tickets to their show in Austin last year before WuHu wiped it out. Will never have the chance to see the complete Stones again.
Putting on Paint it Black and pouring one out for Charlie.

It's sad, but he was 80 and lived a pretty awesome life.
HIs contribution to rock n roll will live on forever. Took my 10 year old to see them last time they were here, and we spent a good amount of time watching him - calm, ramrod straight, on perfect time, with an amused look while Jagger acted like Jagger.
Interestingly, he was a one woman man, married since the 60s.
Get out and see them (anyone, not just the Stones) while you can. New music aint the same and these guys are a dying breed.

I've often compared Charlie watts as a drummer to Stevie ray Vaughn as a guitar player both very technically proficient SRV could be a classical guitarist and Charlie was a jazz drummer but they also approached their play with creativity and power that made them unique and so important in rock and roll

Sad loss...we are talking a true legend...
I first saw the Stones at the Assembly Center show, can't remember if it was '74 or '75.

Charlie is an absolute legend in so many ways. A huge loss for the world.

His smirk at the 2:48 mark says it all.

Great shots of Charlie:
