So what’s our criteria here? I mean GnR had long hair in the era a hair bands. Are we talking hair metal? Tesla is also a great band with long hair during that time but I wouldn’t lump them in with Poison or Warrant.

I could argue it both ways. When GNR debuted in the late 80s they were part of the LA hair band scene. Looking back in hindsight 30 years later, it's obvious their music was different and more straight-forward rock and roll than the makeup-wearing, big hair stuff.

Yes they are. Same era, same scene, same place of origin. Saying they aren’t is splitting hairs. If you want to start talking who is and who isn't a hair band, you have to realize that none of them were. The term came into existence well after the era ended.

I don’t know how many people could even agree on the qualifiers. Can it be long hair or does it have to be held up by 2 cans of Aqua Net. I always liked Warrant, LA Guns and Cinderella. White Lion may not be considered ballot eligible but they had a hell of a lot of hair. Their song Wait, was my anthem for the love of my life that got away.
