My goodness, I listened to the title track last night, and he may as well be speaking directly about my life over the last five years. Gave me knots in my stomach.

I really got into Phosphorescent following the end of a multi year relationship. Helped get me through some things. His live album from 2015 is one of my favorite live albums of the past decade +. Have it on vinyl.

I'll third the Gaslight Anthem for rock.
The Wonder Years and Spanish Love Songs are great recommendations too. The Menzingers for rock as well.

From Zach Bryan, I'll toss out Charles Wesley Godwin, Willi Carlisle and Ryan Bingham.

From Outkast, JID and Earthgang are good rap in that same style.

He wrote the lyrics, played all the parts, and self produced it.
