I feel like I should really like Chris Stapleton.

It’s my kind of music. Country/Americana/ bluegrass/singer songwriter type shite. And the dude is a talented musician with a great voice. But for some reason he just doesn’t move the needle. Most of his songs, no matter how differently they’re arranged, just come off as sounding the same. It’s hard to explain. It’s hard to say he sucks, but he kinda sucks.

he's obviously talented but his songs aren't all that interesting.

You should not have to try to get into any music. It is either good or it’s not and in this case it’s not.

He's for the females. I think he's more R&B in my option with a few good old school country. His voice actually gets on my nerves.

I feel similar on his solo stuff. I really like a lot of his music with the Steeldrivers though, if you're into bluegrass at all. Pretty unique voice to hear in that genre.

I like Stapleton, but if you’re looking for complicated arrangements, you’re looking in the wrong place.

He was great with The Steeldrivers, but the new music is entirely too generic and has no heart. This creates some weird dichotomy in my ears of this soulful maestro singing kids songs to mongos. I hate it.
