Is Morgan Wallen the most overrated country artist?

A few of my family and friends are big fans of his, but I absolutely hate his music. His new releases are especially awful. I can't stomach the mixture of country and hip hop that he seems to be going for. I tell my friends who like his msuic that I think he sucks, but they act like there's something good I'm not hearing that they are.

I was at a pool party Saturday and one of his songs came on. Literally everyone shouted, "turn this garbage off".
Not sure who his target market is? We had rednecks, housewives, normal dudes, etc.

He is fricking horrible. I am not a country music fan but that dude is just making shite up to sing about. My wife likes him and I just cant not understand why
That being said, she played that stupid Up / Down song on the boat last week and I could not get that garbage out of my head for two days.

My gf loves him. I try to be nice and let it play in the car sometimes, but I get to the point where I can't take it anymore after 5 minutes of it. It sounds so much like Florida-Georgia Line. Any of that "bro country" shite is made to appeal only to white trash.

Target Market are simples with no taste. They likely get spoonfed their culture from mass media commercial marketers.

I can't name one song of his, wouldn't recognize a song, wouldn't recognize his face.
I do like country hick-hop though, but the stuff they play on the radio isn't what they play at mud-boggin' events like the LACS, Charley Farley, Moccasin Creek, Colt Ford, etc

I hate Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll, Et al so much that I refused to listen to Charley Crockett thinking he was also one of those dudes. I recently discovered that isn’t the case though, dude is pretty awesome

Also, it’s not that I don’t like rap so I don’t want it invading country, it’s the exact opposite. I like the fact that I can turn it to hip hop and not have to listen to the reasons why the artist killed his cheating wife and her lover over steel guitar. Similarly, I don’t want to turn on the country station and listen to some baw bragging about the size of his truck to a Justin Bieber backing track

Here's my 2 cents regarding Wallen. Nashville is pushing these guys that sound the same vocally. Listen to his grungy voice and compare that to that Bailey Zimmerman guy who is the flavor of the week, Jellyroll, Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny to name a few.. their voices all sound the same. No wonder so many have to go on vocal rest. They cant sing. Or let me say, they have ok voices, they'd stick out at a karaoke bar.

Don't really listen to country music anymore because the shite they make today sucks. Part of the problem is Morgan Wallen. He's supposed to be one of the biggest artists in that music genre, yet I find him to be absolutely horrible. My friends do tend to like him too and I don't know why.

I would have to clarify that actual "country" music being made in the last 10 years is awesome. the pop radio wannabe R&B shite is terrible of course.

Would've been a damn shame to have missed Crockett because of this. All of his albums are stellar.
