James Earl Jones is more well known and iconic being the voice of Darth Vader but Thurl is a opera trained bass singer with a booming voice.
His life long dream was to record the entire Bible on tape, but James Earl Jones "beat him out."

Boris Karloff as the narrator was spot on, also.
Just watched the Boris Karloff biography on Tubi. The man was a national treasure although he wasn't born in the US. His father was from India and his mother was English. Great show to watch if you have Tubi.

Thurl for decades was by mistake uncredited for the grinch song. However Thurl for years after his death finally got a single on the hot 100 billboard at number 32 on January 1, 2021.
Pretty good for someone that is dead.

So funny. I was streaming a Spotify Christmas playlist my daughter chose tonight. And this came on.

Speaking of Mr Grinch, I just came across (Freddie Mercury sound-alike) Marc Martel’s playful/flippant version:
This what the Mr Grinch song might’ve sounded like if Freddie Mercury had covered/recorded it

Considering you didn’t even name him I would think it’s not as iconic as you stated.

That is a very iconic song by Thurl Ravenscroft.

More iconic as an actor but certainly couldn't replace him as Tony the Tiger or sing his iconic song.
