"Like a Trani on ten"

I love this song so very very much, and have for years.
But lyrics are irreconcilably nonsensical, and this has always kind of annoyed me.
The song is about a transvestite until the chorus, when it starts being about something "oscillating on the ground and blowing white noise sound, like a trani on ten."
I have heard the explanation that Trani in the chorus refers to a transistor radio. That's a terrible explanation. The whole song is about some skeezy sexual goings on. The Trani is clearly a transvestite. But then it isn't Because people, whether transvestites or not, do not "oscillate on the ground". Go ahead == try oscillating on the gorund. See how that works out for ya. Moreover, people don't blow white noise sound. Go ahead -- try and produce some white noise sounds. Didn't work out for you, did it?
And, so there we have it. The song is about a transvestite, until it isn't And then the song is arguably about a transistor radio...except that that's focking silly.
Don' tell me this doesn't annoy anybody else.
Trani
Still a great damn song.

I bet this makes you want to punch a baby:
quote:
she saw my comb over, her hourglass body She has problems with drinking milk And being school tardy She'll loan you her toothbrush She'll bar tend your party

Could the trani be overdosing on the ground?
Also really like this song

The lyric is
I said "Lay it now on the ground, throw in a white noise sound, Like a trani on a ten."
It's a reference to cocaine.. Dirk out

Yeah, that's what all the lyrics websites that I looked at had. They are inaccurate. OP is correct. These sites also had something about a "worm in a slab". It's clearly that "worm in his lap", a metaphor for his dick. Those sites suck.

He's absolutely saying "oscillating on the ground....". That part isn't debatable.

Kings of Leon are the worst sellouts of this era.
Youth & Young Manhood was incredible!
However, it requires cognitive dissonance in order to block out the knowledge of what they ended up becoming and keep it from coming in and crapping on my appreciation of those first two albums for what they were.
Its hard to explain to people how a band that went on to become worse than Nickleback started out with such promise. Nobody believes it unless they've actually heard Youth & Young Manhood.

I still try to think of the band that made Youth & Young Manhood and A-ha Shake Heartbreak as the REAL KoL.

Metapho
Well simile, but this is actually the very reason the song is irreconcilable.
The name of the song is Trani, and the verses are easily interpreted as involving transvestites doing whatever it is that transvestites do:
Dirty belly of a secret town
Cheap trick hookers that are hanging out at the bar
In the Greyhound station
And the bare-chested boys are going down
On every thing that the momma believes
But then in the chorus. He doesn't refer to a transvestite directly, but rather says
"like a Trani on ten." Moreover, as I mentioned before, he says "oscillating on the ground; blowing white noise sound." These are not things that a transvesite would do. And so, in the chorus, he's pretty clearly not making reference to a transvestite either directly or through the use of metaphor.
And so what the hell is he talking about?
And it's at this point where someone will opine that he's talking about a transistor radio. Okay okay: oscillating, check. White noise sound, check. The only problem is that the rest of the focking song is about ladyboys doing devious things at a bus station.
I think the song might actually be literal gibberish. And in fact I think Caleb Followill has acknowledged that he's written other songs that don't make any sense, but that just have a bunchof words he came up with when he was really drunk.
And yet here I am: getting annoyed by the Trani lyrics. Not sure why that one bugs, but it does.

It might....but I don't recall those lyrics. What song are they from?
ETA: I remember them now. I think the difference is that Trani is gibberish in the contextg of what otherwise appears to be e coherent story. Milk is just straight up gibberish.

I should note that it could be either:
- Trani on ten, or
- Trani on tin
I didn't mention that initially because both versions can be interpreted as sensical in the context of a radio, but both are nonsense if we're talking about one of the ladyboys at the bus station.

I think Trani is KOL's second best song, fwiw. I give the gold medal to Ragoo. in a photo finish.

Same. That's how I do it.

Well Google; which is worth billions of dollars; says you are wrong when I search kings of leon trni lyrics.. also you should start another thread on whether or not the n word is used in Highway to Hell; since a simple Google search will also answer that for you in 5 seconds.. Dirk out

I don't think that you know how Google or these lyrics sites really work.
