On March 5, 1963, a tragic plane crash claimed the lives of country music legend Patsy Cline, along with fellow artists Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins. The crash occurred near Camden, Tennessee, as they were returning home from a benefit concert in Kansas City, Missouri. The pilot, Randy Hughes, who was also Patsy Cline's manager, was flying the small Piper Comanche aircraft. Unfortunately, poor weather conditions and pilot inexperience with instrument-only navigation led to the fatal accident.

One of my favorites. Such a beautiful voice and gifted artist.

Roger Miller was a great friend of them all and went out to the search area. He climbed up into an old forest observation tower and spotted the wreckage.

I got a head full of feeling higher
And an earful of Patsy Cline
There is just no one who can touch her
Hell, I’ll hang on every line

Marty Stuart produced a gospel album that one of my siblings sang on. They recorded the album in a house on Marty's property and he took the group out to let them explore a barn where he houses his ridiculous collection of music memorabilia. Among the items he has are Patsy's make-up case and a few of the other items she had with her on the plane that day.
