Music bar venues of Baton Rouge

With the varsity and spanish moon not coming back I thought about what venues were left.
The basin - downtown bar venue with a capacity of maybe 350 people.
Mid city ballroom - byob venue (in mid city)
Brickyard - rarely hosts bands but a great bar. Never charges a cover/ticket
Texas club
Manship theatre/Hartley vey room - downtown BR. awesome venue in BR. Manship has great sound and there isn’t a bad seat in the place.
Is that really it for actual bar music venues in BR? Or am I missing something

Red Dragon appears to be re-opening soon
Texas Club is in a horrible area, but it's big enough to book the same bands that the Varsity would
and Mid City Ballroom is basically the new Spanish Moon

Mid city ballroom isn’t a bar though. It’s not a bad venue but it isn’t an every day bar when there’s not a show happening.

Red dragon is a niche spot focused on singer songwriters. It’s a great spot but again, not a bar venue.

You mentioned it? I just stated they were booking shows for Spanish Moon there before the pandemic

L'auberge is also starting to book more concerts, but it's mostly going to be your casino circuit bands minus the rare Ben Folds show

You may be thinking of the Basin, but I haven't been downtown in forever so it could be something new.

Drew & Willies is right over the line in LP
Laberge will start booking again soon.
Cadillac has bands as does both Superior Grill locations.
Small groups play the pig pen stage at Curbside.
But yeah, Covid took a sledgehammer to the music venue scene

Baton Rouge wasn't much of a hotspot before Covid..

You may be thinking of the Basin,
I don't think thats it... It isn't open yet, and I wasn't familiar with the space they were taking over (he told me and I cant remember the name - not currently a music venue)... It's a couple of people with long running ties in the BR live music scene...

So it'll be open for a year or two then close?

I have no idea.. I guess if people don't support it, it will...

I was half joking, but the last few bars that tried to run live music downtown in Baton Rouge & in Lafayette did not fair too well.

o college students go to concerts
There’s a subset of college-aged hipsters, punks, and metal heads, like in any generation. There’s also a good sized group of country music fans that attend those concerts. However, most have little interest in live rock bands, and certainly not the 3hr classic rock cover bands upon which bars stake their financial futures. Music Bars aren’t really after the college kid demo as much as the older millenials and gen-xers. Most college kids are more into edm, and prefer DJ’s to rock shows, but there’s still a rock n roll subculture.
I wonder if Southside Arts Center is coming back as the diy local band venue. It filled the same niche as the Dark Room or HTGT used to pre-Covid.
