Before this past weekend, I had heard of Zebra, but didn’t know any of their music. My Mom invited my wife and I to go with her and my sister to see lead singer/guitarist Randy Jackson do an acoustic solo show at Coscino’s Italian Restaurant in Mandeville.
Let me just say, this man, at 69 years old, absolutely kills it! His voice is phenomenal, as well as his guitar playing. He did a mix of covers as well as Zebra songs, and I was impressed. I’ve gotten into Zebra’s music and I really enjoy their work.
Planning on going see Randy and the rest of the band at the Fillmore in NOLA this coming November. Anyone else see them in concert before?

Yes, for his age he’s still got it. Quite impressive! I’ve seen Zebra twice in the past year, and countless times in the 80’s, and they still put on a helluva show.

I’ve been a fan since they started .Was very happy to see them get to play Acura at Jazzfest before they ride off in to the sunset. I like his acoustic shows but he and Guy kill it together.

I saw them in concert often when they were playing the CYO circuit in Metry

Zebra was a band that I played pretty heavily in the 80’s. Good stuff. I saw them multiple times in concert. The Riverboat President immediately comes to mind.
Good times!

Was blasting some Who’s Behind the Door this weekend. Nostalgia.

Saw them at the Texas Club in I believe 1985. They were fantastic.
I’m 99% sure I used to see advertisements for them at a bar where George’s on Highland is now back in the 70’s when I was a kid. Used to ride up there a lot with my Dad to the little corner store called Vince’s and the spot where the bar was was a bunch of different businesses over the years. It wasn’t a bar for too long if I remember correctly.

Saw them many times at the Pink Potato in Norco and the CYO circuit in the 70's.
Their Zep covers were great.

Really loved Zebra back in the day. Listening to them now, the keyboards are too heavy handed.

During covid summer, he stayed in Long Island (I think) and streamed two free shows a day on Facebook. At first it was just him and his guitar playing The Beatles, Zeppelin, Zebra, etc. Then he had a tech guy in NY put his stream together with a keyboard player in New Orleans so they could play together. It worked well.
We sat on the patio (weather was fantastic that spring and summer) and passed many hours watching/listening to those shows. I set up a Paypal account for the first time so I could send them some tips. Good times.
He has also done "Music of Led Zeppelin" and "Music of Pink Floyd" shows with local symphonies, through the Windborne Music group. Well worth it if you can catch one of those.

saw Zebra 100 times before I knew Randy did solo shows. I've seen his solo shows several times. He's an amazing guitarist and a genuine good guy.

Who’s Behind the Door (JAM) is actually a great music video. Watched it the other day at work. This gets thrown around a lot, but it was waaaaay ahead of its time, and raises questions about technology, human advancement, where we were and where we are going with computers and AI.
I miss good music videos that make one think for themself.

Zebra is/was fantastic.
If you haven't seen it, Randy & Zebra did a concert with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra a few years back. Here is "Take Your Fingers From My Hair" - it is PHENOMENAL.

Good friend's brother grew up with those guys. Had dinner with Randy one night when he was playing 19th hole in Houston. CSB. Extremely humble guy.
Saw them many times at St. Christopher's CYO.

I was a bit too young to catch Zebra’s CYO days, but have seen them many times…most memorably on the riverboat President.
The first Zebra album is still one of my all time top 10 favorite albums.
