What an underappreciated band and singer. Always a joy to listen to The Outfield. Far more than a one hit wonder.

Their 1987 album “Bangin’” is underrated.

Great band that brings back some enjoyable high school memories.

RIP

One of my favorite bands and my first concert in the 80s. They have some great music and agree on them being underappreciated.

I believe he is the second member of that band to pass away. Leaves only the drummer.

RIP. Lots of great memories chasing tail at LSU and the outfield was in the air at some point.

Correct. John Spinks, the guitarist and writer of 90+% of their music, died in 2014 of liver cancer. Spinks is credited as the only songwriter on all but 4 of their songs, and co-writer on those 4.

Alan Jackman was the original drummer but left in 89. He returned in 2009.

Reg Webb, the blind keyboardist in the "Your Love" video died in 2018.

The second guitarist in the "Your Love" video (and touring member) is Grahame Leslie who currently plays guitar in British Lion, Steve Harris's side project. Simon Dawson, who took Jackman's place for a long time in The Outfield plays drums in the same band.

Play Deep remains one of my all time favorite albums.

I was fortunate to see The Outfield open for Starship at Pensacola Beach back in 1986 (Spring Break show). Fun times!

Saw them open for Jefferson Starship at NLU. They put on a great show. Better than Starship.
