Smashing Pumpkins released Siamese Dream 30 years ago today. Absolute Masterpiece that has/will stand the test of time.

It’s a compilation of some of the best lyrics ever.

I’ve never been able to put them any particular genre of music
Back then Smashing Pumpkins stood alone in their sound.
Just a few of my favorites
Mayonaise

“Fool enough to almost be it
And cool enough to not quite see it
And old enough to always feel this
Always old, I'll always feel this
No more promise, no more sorrow
No longer will I follow
Can anybody hear me?
I just want to be me”

Hummer

Luna

Soma

Disarm

Cherub Rock is such a kick in the face to start that album. Can't believe it's 30 years old.

By far my favorite SP record, and it's up there with my all time favorites of any genre.

quote:

Mayonnaise

One of the best songs ever written, and Soma is right up there with it.

Great album for sure.

Every time I'm listening to Mayonnaise around people who haven't heard it, I'm instantly asked "Who is that, that song is great" kind of comments

I was working at a music store at the time. The distributor would send us CDs each month during shipments to play in the store. We got this one the day it came out. They accidentally sent us two copies. I was the cool kid that day when I got off of work to go to a summer party. Just played that CD over and over that night. Great memory.

It might be the best produced and engineered record of that era. Off the top of my head it is. Butch Vig and Jeff Tomei.

best record of that era.

I’ve been back in my Smashing Pumpkins era all day today and probably tomorrow.
This is the perfect example of an album I can listen to from start to finish.

I remember when "Cherub Rock" hit the airwaves. I was like, "Wait, wut?"

Their look also made them tough to nail down--obviously before they were introduced to branding and what not. They wore '60s-era garb but rocked with the intensity of a cutting-edge metal band. They definitely signaled a new era.

This made me a fan of Smashing Pumpkins/Billy Corgan,

But man, I think it would be kind of frightening to be caught in the mind of Billy Corgan

I come to this board to expand my musical knowledge. I’ll confess, I’m not a huge Pumpkins fan other than the mainstream stuff. I gave this song a listen because I’ve never heard it. Wow, just wow! How did I never hear this song before?

My favorite off Gish (also one of my favorite Pumpkins songs)
Also listen to Siva

I was gonna tell him to listen to Siamese Dream in its entirety.

Listening now. Might have to give it a few more listens. Mayonnaise just grabbed me on first listen.
I’ve been on a Sevendust kick since the new album just came out lol

The music video for “Today” is one of my favorites. Driving around in the ice cream truck throwing paint all over it.
