Eddie Money
Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Eddie Money (real name: Mahoney) tried becoming a police officer like his father and brother. It didn't take ("it was a little too militant for me"), so Eddie took off for San Francisco and enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley. There, he met a sorority girl (Alpha Pi), and fell in love. She was well-off and well-heeled; Eddie was working his way through college as a receiving clerk at JCPenney while playing in bands on weekends. "Her mother would do everything in the world to get her away from me on the weekends so she could meet a nice young doctor or lawyer or CPA," Money said in an interview with Frank Jenks. "I wrote 'Two Tickets To Paradise' about taking a bus ride to the California redwoods. I had been up there going to court in Arcadia, which is in northern California, for something I was holding that wasn't mine... but we won't get into that. I wanted to take her on a bus ride up to the redwoods. 'Two Tickets To Paradise' could be anywhere: could be Hawaii, could be anywhere. It's a state of mind." Money never did get to take this girl to paradise. She dumped him before he could.

The guitar solo is one cliche after another and really I like it.
I guess Baby Hold On also fits the story.

All those types of (cliche dad jams - with my full respect) songs remind me of my days working during college at LSU and hearing Eagle 98.1 on the job sites, songs like Baby Hold On and Two Tickets to Paradise. Good memories.
I tuned into Eagle recently and it was pure garbage.

Well, he was a drunk, drug addict and chain smoker who caused himself major health problems with drugs and later died of cancer caused by smoking.
I would say the girl's mom was correct and she dodged a bullet.

Dude was a rock n roller.....of course the mom was right.
He lived the life for a long while.....probably why the girl was initially attracted to him....bad boy with bad habits that mom or dad would not approve of.

No doubt. I love Eddie Money. But I wouldn't want my daughter (no pics) to marry him.

Eddie Money is an American treasure and I, for one, am glad he did that GEICO commercial shortly before his death as it helped to connect him and his music to a younger generation.

When my wife asks what I did at work today I'm going to leave out. 'White knighted for Eddie Money in an online music discussion forum'

It's so funny looking back at old photos, videos, album covers, etc., what a prop cigarettes were. In posed, professional photo shoots, the subjects would be holding cigarettes.

I have a hard time imagining this dude as a New York City cop.
