And it was summertime….
Yea, it’s hard to beat Night Moves

Main Street
Shame on The Moon
Roll Me Away
Night Moves is one of those songs I have just heard too much, but if I heard it today for the first time, I would probably play it several times in a row. It really cannot be denied.

Argueably the worst song he has ever done. Sounds like the b-side of an Air Supply single.

To me Seger has some really good music/instrument songs and some very good lyrics songs, but they don't often match up.
From a pure musical/instrumental standpoint I would say his top 3 are Hollywood Nights, The Fire Inside, and maybe Main Street.
Lyrically the top 3 would be Night Moves (I think most every male can relate to that song), Like a Rock, and Roll Me Away.
I think Against the Wind may be the best combination of music and lyrics, but I also love Roll Me Away. I remember reading in the liner notes of his Greatest Hits CD that Roll was supposed to start out full throttle with all of the instruments, but then on one take they started it very low key with just the piano and then came in with the full band on the second verse, and it just worked.

My personal favorite from live bullet is travelin man/beautiful loser. Great rifs and I love the transition between the two songs

The lyrics from Night Moves always resonated with me. Something like ‘she used him and he used her and neither one cared, they were getting their share’. Pretty heavy stuff for me at the time the song was released
Night moves has great lines. I think the best is "Workin' on mysteries without any clues"
I think that sums up teenage sex like nothing else.

It really does have the best lines, and, like you said, really describes teenage sex and teenage lust so perfectly.
She was a black-haired beauty with big dark eyes/And points of her own, sittin' way up high/Way up firm and high
We weren't in love, oh no, far from it/We weren't searchin' for some pie in the sky summit/We were just young and restless and bored
And we'd steal away every chance we could/To the backroom, to the alley or the trusty woods/I used her, she used me but neither one cared
And I think those lines resonate with so many males looking back at their high school or college years. I know I had a relationship like that, and so many others did too.
