I don't blame him for wanting out but I remember something about his people saying they were unwilling to sign an extension and demanding a trade.

West was gone regardless because he was going to be a free agent and we couldn't afford him. And whatever extension we could have offered him was a lowball based on the structure of his declining contract.

That era died when Shinn traded Tyson because he couldn't afford the team.

anyone that blames CP3 for wanting out, or booes him when he returns, is an idiot.

Boo him b/c he's a flopping bitch on the opposing team, not b/c he left the Hornets.

yeah yeah, CP3. it's always easy to play the victim and make yourself look like the hero of your story in hindsight. the facts of that story are:

-it had started to become a rumor in 2009 but really started to take traction when CP3's agency put out aggressive pieces in the media trying to force his way out before the start of the 2010-11 season.

-The nba purchases the hornets from George Shinn temporarily with intention to sell to someone who would keep the team in new orleans, if a buyer would present itself, in December 2010.

-the roster gets retooled by Demps and the hornets start that year 7-0 (beating the big 3 heat in that stretch), finish the season 46-36 and 7th in the West, lose in 6 games to the Lakers.

-the lockout starts that summer and goes until December 2011.

-during the lockout, CP3's team demands to be traded and that he will not sign an extension under any circumstances even if the team were to remain in new orleans.

-demps trades CP3 to the lakers on December 8th and David Stern vetos the trade. CP3 is pissed he didn't get to go one of the teams on his wishlist. tweets "WoW" and his team even floated potential litigation against the league vetoing the trade.

-demps trades CP3 4 days later to the clippers. Paul tweets "LA!!!!"

-Tom Benson buys the hornets 4 months later on April 13, 2012, declaring to keep them in New Orleans for good.

If his true reasoning for leaving is because they said they were going to move the team, the NBA had said their intention was to sell to an owner that wanted to keep the team in new orleans. they even negotiated the lease to keep the team in nola through 2024 way before dempsey emerged as a buyer.

so with all of that being said, he still thought the team was leaving? im not buying it. you're not a hero, chris. you're a groupie baby back bitch that just wanted to team up with the rest of your buddies cause that was the cool thing to do back then. that's why you get booed.

oh yeah and obligatory reference to CP3's first game back in Nola:

George Shinn was a god awful owner. Even if he wanted to leave I can’t blame him. Shinn makes the bensons look like competent nba owners.

Chris Paul hosts quite a few basketball camps each year. From what I can tell, it doesn’t seem like any are in New Orleans.

Does he have any business interests in the city? Does he own any property? If he does, please let me know. But, for someone who claims to have this “incredible bond” with the city and its residents, he sure does seem to have made a clean break from it.

I boo him because he showed up out of shape hot dogging it his last season here, and because he intentionally injured Toni

I boo him because he plays a bitch-made Lebron/Harden/etc brand of basketball, flopping around on every contact, stopping in front of people, etc.

It was tolerable when he was Our a-hole, but now he's just an a-hole.

This. He’s cut from the same cloth as lebron james with all the flopping and crying and just generally playing like a lil bitch.

Use to be my favorite player growing up. He wanted to win a championship and play in a larger market.

- The team was practicing in the Alario Center.

- The team had the only owner that was using an NBA franchise as a main source of income

- The team TWICE traded an in-his-prime Tyson who paired perfectly with CP3 to save money.

Anyone blaming CP3, West or anyone for leaving the George Shinn-Hornets is a simp.

He probably does.

"They" were telling them the team was moving so he took it in his own hands to move. So it was his decision.

I think a lot of people have forgotten this and he is trying to memory hole this last part of tenure in Nola.

West wanted to sign the extension offered, even at the lower price. But he wanted Paul's assurance that he would reup. Then Paul shows up in gay pics with the banana boy crew.

(Then all 4 of those guys)

But for the sake of this thread, Paul tells West, the media, and anyone willing to listen that he is "gonna do what's best for him and his family"

frick Paul. He quit when shite got tough. And wanted an easy shot at a ship. Now, he will retire with 0

CP3 is the greatest hornet/pel of all time. I love me some David west, too. It’s a shame these New Orleans sports teams can’t get their shite together. Even more amazing Mickey still has a job considering the shittiness they’ve become.
