Simmons is a massive Murphy fan, so it's not surprising he'd mention him. But it'd be paradigm shifting for us. If we come out of this offseason with Mazulla as the coach and Brown as our new Superstar, that's a crazy start to a new era..

Good Lord man.

I don't understand why Pelicans fans are acting like Rondo is some hot commodity in coaching circles.

I like Rondo and want him to be the hire, but no one else is even considering him.

I did not realize that Rondo played for 9 different NBA teams. Everybody keeps talking like he was a long time Pelican. But he only played here a year, (he was good that year though). He actually played more games for 4 other teams than us. The Celtics and Lakers were easy ones. But I wouldn't have gotten the other 2 with a half dozen guesses. I don't even remember him playing for those teams..

Jake Madison seems to be hinting that Steve Hetzel being the favorite to be the next head coach. Not sure if he would know or not.

Yeah, pretty much. As usual, he crawfished a bit later and said Mosley may change the equation now that he is available.

Wonder if Dumars is trying to "outsmart" others with Hetzel. Since he started his career as a video coordinator maybe in Dumars' mind, it is a parallel to Spoelstra. Not sure what he has done with some not so great teams to deserve a head coaching gig (other than being someone who has a history with the dynamic duo of Dumars and Weaver).

I could see that backfiring as a head coach.

.. The only coach recently was stan .Gundy. and the old players,BI, we had didn't like the atmosphere. That's the reason why they got rid.

Hetzel is not my first choice but I don't hate it because it's, at least, different.

In order of preference:

Rondo
Sweeney
Borrego
Hetzel
my 8 year old daughter
