It's an interesting prospect but the guy doesn't have experience, it's that simple. I still like Borrego, the guy is a good headcoach, knows Xs and Os. Has the respect of the players, give him the time to turn it around. Smh

There is soooo much data that flies in the face of this empty arse statement.

It’s very troubling that Rondo was in the Bucks building for multiple seasons And they didn’t remotely consider him.
Looks like Chicago has zero interest in him as well.
I’m not saying it won’t work but if we’re the only option trusting Dumars is not a path for success.

Borrego? Hard pass.
He modernized the offense, but we can't ignore the numbers:
24–46 Interim Record: Stats don't matter if you can't win. He finished the season 1–9 in his last 10, showing he can't stop the bleeding.
Late-Game Failures: We finished with a -4.5 Net Rating (21st in the league). In games decided by 6 points or less, he was a liability—losing tight ones to the Timberwolves (132-126), Rockets (107-105), and Suns (118-116).
Soft Identity: We ranked 28th in Opponent Offensive Rebounding. His small-ball lineups lack the "grit" Dumars is looking for.
Charlotte History: He led them to back-to-back Play-In spots only to get blown out both times. He hits a ceiling when the stakes are high.
No Fresh Start: He’s already part of the system. We need an outside voice to break the cycle, not a promotion for the guy who oversaw a 26–56 season.
We need a coach who prioritizes defense and toughness. Borrego ain't it.

Look what ya boy is doing right now with the Lakers. He didn't have any coaching experience

People actually forget Doc Rivers didn’t come up the ranks either. First job was with the Magic, won COTY year 2, and then rest is history

quote:What do you think he was trying to do in the half season he was given to try to turn them around after that woeful start under Green. He spoke about defense all the time in his interviews with media saying that he was trying to get them to play hardnosed, tough minded defense. It's just that it's hard trying to get a bunch of overpaid spoiled arse athletes to buy into what you're selling them. He needs more time then the lil half season he got to undo all of the damage a Willie Green did in his tenure.

But the man was a highly sought after assistant by other NBA teams for a reason, that's because he's a damn good coach that's why. Dumars wouldn't let him leave when New York wanted him, but you need more time then just a lil half a season to turnaround a team and the damage Willie Green caused. I mean he had them playing well in spurts, but then they would fall right back into the lousy play again they had developed under Green. I don't care really, let him go, someone will pick him up immediately because the man is a damn good coach.

This means nothing in a meaningless end of the season stretch with key players out and no one giving a shite.

Coaches can't make star players make shots. Zion sucks. We haven't had a real closer on our team since CP3.

No argument there. maybe if one of the biggest guys in the league would actually rebound instead of expecting someone else to do it we'd be a little better here. Again, Zion sucks.

Yeah, it's a shame he coudln't win a play-in game with Terry Rozier and rookie LaBricko Ball as his best players.

I agree, but we also need players who fit that mold as well, and that's not Zion. No team with Zion will ever be tough defensively. he's too damn lazy.
Hiring Rondo would be about the only thing that would give me a slight excitement going into next season. That and trading Zion.

I mean Weaver and Dumars need to kick this relationship with Ham to the curb and do what is best for business. Hire Rondo!

It's already been posted in this thread hoss.
But by all means, please continue thinking that what this franchise needs is a Willie disciple.

Boogie Cousins says an NBA head coaching gig is long overdue for Rondo
Long overdue? The guys only been out of the league for a three years and assistant coach for two
I mean I'd be happy with Rondo but it's not like he's been on the bench waiting for a call for 10 years.

According to sources close to the search, Borrego is one of the four candidates who have emerged as the front runners to land the job. He joins a list that includes Rajon Rondo, Steve Hetzel and Darvin Ham. The best guess here is Rondo and Hetzel are at the top of the list.

I really hope this is the case.
Give someone new a shot. That is how you find great coaches and bad ones. Lol

One of these is not like the others...

So Hetzel worked for the Pistons from 09-13 so Dumars would be familiar with him.
I don’t care who is hired at this point I just want to win.

100% agree if anyone gets us winning, they will be my favorite.
