Perhaps this gets us back in the 1st round of the draft? Get a third team involved?

He's better than Desmond Bane and this is what he went for:

The Grizzlies received Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, and four unprotected first-round picks (2025-2030), along with a 2029 pick swap

Desmond bane got 4 1st round picks and is two years older. He and trey put up very similar numbers.

No way

Also I feel like they have to pick a lane. Either you are rebuilding with Fears and Queen, or you are trying to win now with guys that already failed at that

Go actually rebuild and trade everyone else for as many picks as you can get.

The new tanking rules probably scare that off though

Curious to see what the Pistons do this offseason. They purposely sat out during the trade deadline and got the #1 seed, but now they about to get bounced in first round by Magic who made win now moves like getting Bane.

Agree, even if we get 4-1sts we’ll get fleeced by Detroit.

This org doesn't have the structure to just trade everyone except for Fears/Queen. It would ruin them as well, and they'd just be looking for the first chance to get out of here.

It would have to be 4 unprotected 1sts or 3 1st and they take Poole’s contract as well.

Yeah. That 4-10 range has basically been home for the Pelicans since they moved to New Orleans, so they might as well just keep doing what they've been doing for 20+ years and they'll have their best shot possible at the top pick.

Desmond Bane is consistently more available than Trey, he can create his own shot better, and he can create for others better. He also has much more meaningful playoff experience,

The only thing Trey does better is dunk.

All that being said, I think Trey is worth 3 unprotected firsts and a swap down the line.

Wait. Thats my first time seeing the new proposed rule changes. You're telling me that the 10th worst record would have better odds at the top pick, then the 3 worst records? Is that right?!?

Yep. No more incentive to be the worst team in the league anymore. The bottom 3 will be fighting to get out of the bottom 3 instead of trying to lose.

I really like Trey but I don't know really see how Trey is better than Desmond Bane. Trey's best attribute is he's a good 3pt shooter and Bane is a better 3pt shooter than Trey and he plays winning basketball and actually plays on both ends of the court. Trey is younger yes but he was traded at age 26 and it'd be a similar time for Trey.
